AIM INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

AIM Internships AIM Internships have been designed to allow students to gain practical experience across a variety of core business areas within the AIM organisation. With 75 years of experience in developing leaders and managers, AIM Internships offer Student Members the opportunity to enhance their capabilities through participation in a variety of projects designed to facilitate on-the-job learning. By participating in an internship, not only will you gain valuable experience and insight into day-today business practices, you will also develop a greater understanding of your desired career path. The AIM Internship Program provides participants with the opportunity to work across a variety of areas within the AIM organisation. In 2016 AIM are pleased to offer internships in the following business areas: • • • •

Membership and Operations Policy, Advocacy and Research Marketing and Events Commercial Partnerships, Sponsorships and Programs

Membership and Operations Our Members are at the heart of everything that we do here at AIM. When you participate in an AIM Membership and Operations internship your focus will be on attracting, engaging and retaining AIM members. This will enable you to build your capacity in the areas of: • • •

Customer service Sales and marketing Data management and administration

If you are passionate about customer service and standards of excellence then our Membership and Operations internship is the right fit for you.

Policy, Advocacy and Research Our Policy, Advocacy and Research Team is committed to delivering the latest professional development tools and resources to our Members and advocating for best practice in the areas of leadership and management. An AIM Policy, Advocacy and Research internship will help you develop a wide range of skills, as well as gaining valuable insights into how a member organisation contributes to the growth and development of its members. This is achieved through our:

• • •

Leadership Policy Round Tables AIM publications (including Insight Edge newsletters and Leadership Matters magazine) Leadership research, tools and analytics

If you have strong writing and research skills and the ability to work independently, then our Policy, Advocacy and Research internship may be for you.

Marketing and Events Our Marketing and Events Team work to plan, promote and deliver a range of projects from largescale signature events right through to intimate roundtable style events and member programs. As part of the AIM Marketing and Events internship, you will be exposed to all elements of the event planning life cycle and have the opportunity to work on: • • •

Marketing briefs and campaigns Media outreach and strategies (including social media) AIM events such as Networking is Working, the Outstanding Leader Series and the AIM Leadership Excellence Awards.

If you are super-organised, love working to a deadline and have great problem solving skills, then you should consider our Marketing and Events internship.

Commercial Partnerships, Sponsorships and Programs Increasing member and commercial partner engagement is essential to the long term sustainability of a not-for-profit organisation such as AIM. As part of the AIM Commercial Partnerships and Sponsorship internship you will gain experience in growing and developing programs; building and maintaining relationships with sponsors. Activities include: • • •

Strategic planning and partnership negotiations Program management and delivery Sponsor liaison and relationship management

If you like to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, have excellent negotiating skills and aren’t afraid of a challenge, then our AIM Commercial Partnerships, Sponsorships and Programs internship is for you.

Important stuff Duration of Internship All AIM internships are offered for one day per week over a period of 8 consecutive weeks. Payment All internships awarded to AIM Student Members are paid internships. This means that you will not only gain experience in your area of interest but you will also be paid for the work that you do. Requirements Anyone applying for AIM Internships must satisfy the following criteria: • • •

Be a current AIM Student Member (AIMs) Be completing either their final or penultimate year of their degree Be available for the entire duration of the internship
