SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN POLICY The Sue Hedley Nursery School is committed to ensuring that children reach their full potential in a safe environment and protected from harm ensuring children have positive image of themselves and a secure sense of identity, e.g. cultural and racial identity. We will endeavour to safeguard children from neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse and emotional harm making sure that their human rights are observed. Safeguarding children is the responsibility of everyone, and whilst in our care we will ensure the safety and welfare of our children through the Area Child Protection Committee and The Sue Hedley Nursery School procedures. The aims of our policy are underpinned by the fundamental values and principles if the Children Act 1989/2004. The basic principles are:    

The welfare of the child is paramount. We will endeavour to work in partnership with parents. We will support children/parents through the nursery services to enable children to be brought up within their own families. The Local Authority has corporate responsibility for children.
