It is designed for church leaders, clergy, parents, educators, daycare providers, and all those who work with children (recommended age 16 and older for training). These training programs are designed to help raise awareness for all of us. We are all responsible for providing a safe environment for God’s children.

Statistics show that in this country for children, that one in 4 females and one in 8 males will be sexually abused before the age of eighteen. These are frightening numbers, and they more than demonstrate a need to address this issue. In 2004, a new program was instituted by the Church Pension Group of the Episcopal Church in partnership with the Presidium Religious services of Dallas, Texas, to develop a new training program to help inform and train adults about these issues. In Wyoming, this training program has been certified by the Wyoming Children’s Action Alliance through the Wyoming STARS (Statewide Training and Resource System) for areas of core knowledge for those persons working in the secular child care areas, such as day care centers and schools.   FOR  PARENTS  AND CONGREGATIONS The  first  part  of  the  training  workshop  is  approximately  1.5  hours  in  length,  and  is  designed  to  inform  parents   and  congregations  about  the  issues  of  child  sexual  abuse,  and  how  they  can  stop  that  in  their  church’s  and   communities.

FOR  MINISTRIES  AND  PROGRAMS   The  second  part  of  the  workshop  training  deals  with  the  area  of  keeping  programs  safe  and  prevention  of  child   sexual  abuse.  This  part  of  the  workshop  is  about  3.5  hours  in  length,  and  also  talks  about  State  of  Wyoming   reporting  requirements,  model  policy  as  presented  by  the  Nathan  Network,  and  the  policies  of  the  Episcopal   Diocese  of  Wyoming.
