Race Categories Men: Pro/1/2, Cat 3, Cat 4, Cat 5, Masters Gregory “Wade” Franck was struck by a drunk driver on August 16, 2015 while riding his bicycle and died two days Later. Wade loved history, bicycles and education. He made his career in the industry at several bicycle shops and was a proud ambassador and advocate for bicycling. The Capitol City Race Weekend has been renamed in his honor.

The Wade Franck Memorial Cup is one of three events comprising the Iowa Memorial Cup presented by the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. The Iowa Memorial Cup is a series of three race weekends with an overall series winner being crowned in each category. While points are awarded at each event, the main goal is to increase awareness of Bicycle Advocacy in the state of Iowa. Each race weekend will focus on remembering someone that was lost in the local community by respectfully telling their story. We believe that advocacy promotion through these events will increase awareness in the local communities and connect cyclists with action plans. The series is presented by the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to promote Iowa cycling as safe and enjoyable recreation and transportation. Registration closes 30 minutes before each race, day of registration is $5 extra. All riders must be USAC licensed. One-day licenses available at registration for $10 or online for Men and Women Cat 5 racers.

Course Info: Start / staging is at the Fairview Woodland Hills Church. The course is a
13-mile loop with rolling hills and 5 right turns. The course features an uphill finish located just west of the intersection of Vandalia and 32nd Ave. The feed zone is located in front of the church. The course is open to traffic and centerline rule will be strictly enforced. This rule is also in place at the finish. All USAC Road racing rules apply.
