SHS Update: September 8, 2017 “Homecoming” The word “Homecoming” evokes thoughts of an individual returning home after a long journey to find solace in the comfort and safety of friends and family. Students spend much of their adolescence intricately involved in the educational environment of a school community. We laugh together, we cry together, we rejoice in accomplishment, and we build character through adversity. Our graduates are forever affected by their time spent becoming a Panther. Our promise as a school is to develop the home our graduates deem worthy of returning to. Shout Outs Thank You goes to all the parents who have been checking their student’s grades and have made positive communications with teachers regarding student improvement. A Shout Out goes to the 9-0 start to the season for the softball girls. Keep rolling. Good Luck goes to the FFA Trap Team in their first meet of the year at Linn Creek tomorrow. Good Luck goes to the HS Salisbury Band. They will be marching in the Sterling Price Parade tomorrow. Hope to see everyone there. JH/HS Building Focus Goals 1. Teachers will complete individual class curriculum including Essential Standards, Assessments and Activities using BYOC template with a focus on increasing academic rigor. 2. Teachers will implement one new technology initiative a year focusing on improving student engagement and academic improvement. 3. Teachers will contribute ideas with a focus on academic collaboration using a common HS Google classroom page. 4. A student led initiative focusing on the reduction of bullying and harassment incidents will be implemented.

College and Career Ready Focus After analyzing the enrollment data, the high school currently has 65% of the junior and senior classes enrolled in at least one college level class or career related Vo-Tech class. We have set a realistic goal of 80% for next year. Thank you for pushing your children to challenge themselves for the future. We ask for your patience and understanding when grades are released because there will be a transition period as students grades start to reflect a more accurate idea of real student understanding. We must know where your children are intellectually before we can push them toward achieving their potential. Homecoming Updates
