Salto del A ngel. T hree routes have now been clim bed beside the A ngel Falls, possibly the highest w aterfall in the w orld, w hich drops som e 2800 feet. In M arch, Spaniards clim bed a new route 100 m eters to the left o f the falls. N early all the face was overhanging and 80% o f the clim bing was direct aid, m ostly A3 w ith two pitches o f A 4. Yet they placed only one bolt. Jesú s G álvez and A dolfo M edinabeitía took 23 days to com plete the clim b. They first prepared 200 m eters and then took 16 days on the final push.
