Along with a reputable school and village recreational ground, Whitfield also offers various convenience stores and a retail park. Close by is the town of Dover with its famous castle, coastal walks along the White Cliffs and ferry services making the continent within easy reach. Our Time Here We were relocating from Lincolnshire to Kent, when we found this house. It had so much kerb appeal, and was so spacious, light and airy and the room sizes were so huge, that we just had to go for it. The first week we moved here, I found 4 four-leafed clovers in the garden, which I’ve since framed; we like to think this house was meant to be. I think my favourite room is the kitchen. It offers plenty of storage and is a nice space to socialise in, given the room for the table and chairs. We really like the large study, which is big enough for us to both work in comfortably. We also love the low-maintenance garden, which is very enjoyable; but also has scope for those with green-fingers. Whitfield is a very friendly village with an array of local shops, a café, hairdresser and a good village pub. The village hall holds lots of events, and there is a monthly newsletter detailing what’s going on. The location has been ideal for us, offering a village feel in the countryside without being at all ‘cut off’. Canterbury with all that it has to offer is just a 20 minute drive away. The motorway access to London on the M20 & M2 is great, along with the high sped rail services to St. Pancras. Most importantly for us, was the ease of access to France, which we love. Being able to go on the Ferry from Dover, through the channel tunnel or on the Eurostar has been brilliant. We are downsizing now, but like living here so much that we will be staying in the area.
