As the regular season comes to a close Edinboro (18-7, 15-6 PSAC West) has clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament and will host an undetermined opponent. That opponent could be Pitt-Johnstown (10-15, 7-14 PSAC West), who is in a three-way battle with Slippery Rock and Seton Hill for the final two spots in the Western Division. The PSAC first round game will take place at McComb Fieldhouse on Saturday, February 28 at 1 p.m. Tonight marks the final regular season appearance for five seniors. Like last year’s group, this year’s seniors have accomplished monumental fetes – four PSAC playoff appearances, three NCAA playoff berths, and an Atlantic Regional title a year ago which led to a second-ever berth in the Elite Eight. Some have piled up the points and earned plenty of awards. Others have played key roles in practice. All have contributed greatly to the success that has made Edinboro women’s basketball a premier program in recent years. Laurel Lindsay returned for a final season after graduating last May. She has become just the third player in PSAC history with 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 500 career assists. She ranks 23rd in career scoring (1,136 points) and second in career assists (514). This year she has handed out 181 assists, a figure which ranks sixth in a season at Edinboro and third in Division II. Valerie Majewski burst onto the scene last year after transferring from the University at Buffalo. She would be named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year, the PSAC Tournament MVP, and finally a WBCA All-American, joined by Lindsay as an honorable mention All-American. Majewski has scored 784 points in just two seasons as a Scot. Hope Mancini has made great strides as a player despite battling injuries throughout her career. The three-point specialist has scored 465 career points and ranks sixth in 3-point percentage (34.4 percent). Raven Brown has been a four-year member of the Fighting Scots, appearing in 39 career games. Finally, Anastasia Riabchenko joined the Fighting Scots this year and has proven a force defensively inside while playing in 23 games. We thank these young ladies for all they have done, and wish them the very best in their future endeavors.

Tonight’s Teams
Tonight we would like to recognize a very important individual who has toiled behind the scenes. Meghan Riley has served as the manager for the women’s basketball team the last four years, but she has been much more than that to head coach Stan Swank and assistant coach Callie Wheeler. While never having scored a point for the Fighting Scots, she is as valuable as any player who takes the floor tonight. Meghan is a senior from Murrysville, Pa. and is a Speech and Hearing Sciences major.
