If you love the look of hand-sewn stitches, but don’t have the time to do it, this block is for you. With the Horizon Memory Craft 9400 QCP, duplicating hand look quilt stitches is as easy as 1, 2, and 3. This is the tenth block in a twelve block series.

4. Cut out circle, place in center of 14” square, then fuse in place. 5. Mark 1” outside of circle with chalk or fabric maker.

Janome Supplies Required: • Horizon Memory Craft 9400 QCP • Straight Stitch Needle plate • Satin Stitch foot F • Empty bobbins Fabric and Notions: • Michael Miller Cotton Couture solids:

> 14” x 14” Lava



> 6” x 6” Lagoon



> 6” x 6” paper backed fusible web

• Monofilament thread • Embroidery Thread: gold, fuchsia, and avocado

6. Fold square in quarters press on folds to establish center. Machine Set Up: 1. Lock Machine. 2. Attach Straight Stitch Needle plate.

• Terial Magic liquid stabilizer • 100/16 Denim needle Fabric Preparation: 1. Saturate 14” square with Terial Magic. Hang to dry approximately 15-20 minutes, then press dry. 2. Trace circle pattern on paper side of fusible web. 3. Fuse to wrong side of 6” square.

3. Insert 100/16 Denim needle. The large needle will allow the bobbin thread to pull to the top to duplicate the look of hand stitching.

Sculpture Stitch Block 4. Wind one bobbin each of gold, fuchsia, and avocado embroidery thread. 5. Touch Sewing Applications tab > Sculpture > Sculpture 1.

3. Turn square 90° and repeat parallel lines.

6. Place gold bobbin in machine. 7. Thread needle with monofilament thread and attach Satin Stitch foot F. 8. Test stitch on a scrap of fabric prepared with Terial Magic. It may be necessary to tighten needle tension to help pull the bobbin thread to the right side. Sample was sewn with tension set at Auto.

4. Insert fuchsia bobbin thread. 5. Sew fuchsia lines centered between gold lines. Start and stop fuchsia lines closer to drawn line once again at random positions.

Instructions: Note: Decorative stitches automatically sew a locking stitch at the start. Press the reverse button at the end of each line of stitches, the machine will sew in place four stitches and then automatically stop, to create a locking stitch. 1. Starting and ending approximately ½” past drawn line sew on center folds to establish center lines.

6. Insert avocado bobbin thread.

2. Using outside edge of foot sew lines across circle. Starting and stopping at random positions close to the drawn line.

8. Wash square to remove stabilizer and markings.

7. Sew avocado lines on both sides of fuchsia lines. Start and stop avocado lines at drawn line.

9. Press and square block to 12 ½”.
