Second Grade Sight Word Protocol - Sight words will be taught Monday through Thursday. A quiz will be administered weekly on Friday. - Words should be taught during word work. - Words are grouped in each column by day of the week. - Flash cards are to be created for each word introduced.
- “Review word” indicates a teacher-selected word that has not been mastered by a majority of students. Vary the review words weekly. - Once most students have mastered a trick word, it can be removed from your review pile. - Sight words should be reinforced for homework. Fundations lessons in class will provide reinforcement of many sight words. - As words increase in complexity, the amount of new words introduced decreases to ensure mastery.
