TOWSON UNIVERSITY SPORTS MEDICINE EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN – SECU ARENA GYMNASTICS MEET Emergency Personnel: - Certified athletic trainer and athletic training students on site - Team Physician on site - Emergency medical technicians Emergency Communication: - Certified athletic trainer carries cell phone in case of emergency Emergency Equipment: - The following equipment will be available in the arena at the start of the vault runway in case of an emergency: o Emergency medical kit, vacuum splints, AED, emergency crash bag o Insurance information located in medical kit o Emergency Medical Technicians located in north entrance corridor of arena at the finish of the vault runway o Ambulance (ALS) located outside SECU Arena Roles of Emergency Personnel: - Immediate care of the injured athlete o Team physician and/or certified athletic trainers and one athletic training student will approach athlete, assess injury situation and begin care - Emergency equipment retrieval o Certified athletic trainer or athletic training student will retrieve appropriate equipment - Activation of emergency medical system o Certified athletic trainer or athletic training student will summon EMT’s from north corridor to assist - Direction of EMS to scene o EMS will access the arena with the ambulance via the service road on the north side of the SECU arena o Coaches will contain teams to their respective benches and move bystanders away from area
TOWSON UNIVERSITY SPORTS MEDICINE EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN – SECU ARENA GYMNASTICS MEET Venue Directions with Map: ‐ From Towsontown Blvd, turn onto Osler Drive ‐ Turn Right onto Auburn Drive (across from St. Joes Emergency Entrance) ‐ Follow Auburn Drive around past the west end zone of football stadium ‐ Turn right into Lot 20 and continue down service road to arrive at West Entrance of SECU Arena o Service road is located across from football stadium fieldhouse after the soccer field and adjacent to SECU arena
