Liam Goldberg

6-2 | Melbourne, Australia | Lake Erie College

Strahinja Trecakov

5-10 | Kikinda, Serbia | Dusan Vasiljev Gynasium

The New Mexico State men’s tennis team will conclude its regular-season at the NMSU Tennis Center this Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m. (MT). The Aggies will honor their two seniors, Liam Goldberg and Strahinja Trecakov, during the break between doubles and singles on Saturday. HEATING UP The Aggies are beginning to hit their stride heading into this weekend’s final home match, winning seven of its last eight matches. Sophomore Christofer Goncalves guides the way, having won sevenstraight singles matches and is the first Aggie to reach the 20-win plateau. He’s also won eight of his last 10 matches. Freshman Enrique Asmar is second on the team and just one win shy of 20 wins at 19-11 in singles action. Stijn de Haan, who is also a freshman, isn’t too far behind Asmar – checking in with an 1812 record. Senior Liam Goldberg isn’t far off either, sporting a 17-8 singles mark, while fellow senior Strahinja Trecakov comes in at 15-16 in singles. REMATCH WITH THE MUSTANGS New Mexico State will wrap up its regular-season with a rematch against Western New Mexico at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16. The last time these two teams squared off, the Aggies came out victorious 7-0. The Mustangs currently sport a 13-8 overall record and 4-0 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. WNMU is 5-6 on the year when playing on the road. Liam Frabulet paces the Western New Mexico with a 15-4 overall singles record, playing predominantly at No. 4 singles. Tristian Da Lio (10-10) and Vladimir Gnilozubov (10-11) are second on the team in singles action with 10 wins apiece, while Jean Laurent Pageault is 9-9 on the year playing at the No. 1 singles slot. Fraboulet is riding a five-match winning-streak while Da Lio and Gnilozubov have won fourstraight.

WNMU’s No. 1 doubles team of Da Lio and Gnilozubov is 13-7 while Fraboulet and Pageault are 12-3 at the No. 2 slot. Checking in at the No. 3 position is the duo of Blayze O’Keefe and Pablo Santibanez at 11-3. CHAMPIONSHIP RUN After taking second last year, the NM State men’s tennis team finished in a three-way tie for first this year with Grand Canyon and UMKC. The Aggies will head into the conference championships as the No. 2 seed behind the ‘Roos since GCU is not eligible for postseason play. NM State looks to defend its conference championship title come April 29-May 1. The Aggies defeated UT Rio Grande Valley, formerly known as UT Pan American, last season to earn the Western Athletic Conference’s automatic bid. As a team, the Aggies finished dual play with a 26-4 record in singles and 8-7 mark in doubles. The No. 4 singles slot has been the most productive, winning 11-of-17 matches, while the No. 2 position has won 11-of-18 matches.
