Sensory Garden Shepherds class have been very busy this week starting the task of creating a sensory garden. The children have already started to dig up the soil and remove all of the stones to allow room for the plants to grow. The children were keen to keep the bigger stones to use within the garden so we will be painting them and using them as decoration. We have explored some of the plants that we will be planting in the garden. We have lots of different types of herbs and plants including chives, mint and lavender. We explore the plants with all of our senses with some children describing the sage as “soft and fluffy” and the mint as “yummy.” Over the half term the children will be preparing the sensory garden area, planting and maintaining the area and creating decorations to put in the garden.

Welcome back to the Summer term. This is quite a long term but I always think the better weather makes us all feel happier and as always there are lots of exciting events taking place. Our outdoor learning environment has had lots of improvements so we are very keen to make the most of it. Children will be using the Woodland walk, the Solardome, the weather station and doing some gardening. Thanks to our newly formed NGFA the garden is ready for the children to plant and then use the crops in their food tech. I am looking forward to tasting what they make! If you have a favourite recipe that your child has made at school or at home with you and you would like to share it please do send it in for our Norman Gate Recipe Book. Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Gayler

Active Kids Vouchers We are collecting the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers. We have a collection box just inside the reception door. Please can parents make sure they use the paths and not walk across the car park at the front of the school. This sets a poor example for the children, who we make sure walk on the paths to keep them safe. Thank you
