We will meet at our normal time 1800 for social hour followed by a City Barbeque buffet dinner at 1900. Dr. Ross McNutt will be the speaker and his talk will center on the Cirrus airplane and the plans to use it for surveillance missions. The evening attire will be a casual. Spouses are welcome to join us for the evening and come see the MacAir Aero Club, with roots back to the former Wright Patterson Aero Club. Also, there will be some really nice door prizes to give away, which involve flights in some of the Aero Club aircraft and one in the Cirrus airplane. They may be used for your kids, grandkids or yourselves. STANDARD DEBRIEF ITEMS: PREVIOUS FLIGHT LEG (20 August): We all enjoyed hearing Mr. Charles Brink explain about Air Force Research Laboratory's X-51A WaveRider with its scramjet engine, how it worked, and what lies ahead for hypersonic vehicles. If you missed the presentation you can learn more here: http://www.boeing.com/boeing/defense-space/military/waverider/index.page. FOUND: a pair of glasses with a black head band was left on one of the tables in the Daedalian Room last meeting. Please let me know if you are missing them. FLIGHT PLANNING (MISSION, PLANNED ROUTE OF FLIGHT, STANDARD ROUTE FIXES AND WAYPOINTS): APPROACH TO A FULL STOP At this time it appears that we may have our National Commander, Lt Gen Kehoe, as Guest Speaker for our October Founder's Night (dual) meeting. How special is that!? Lt Gen Kehoe is an Academy grad and fighter pilot.
We will be meeting at the Club for the remaining meetings in 2013. In November, back by popular demand, we will host flight suit war stories. December is the Christmas Ball (also dual). Contact Programs Chair, David Eidsaune (
[email protected]) if you have an idea or a presentation we could consider. ELECTIONS AND DUES: Just a friendly reminder: our annual elections will be held in December. If you would like to run for one of our officer or “chair” positions please let a member of the Executive Council know. The elected positions available are: Flight Captain, Deputy Flight Captain, Adjutant, Provost Marshall, and Treasurer. The other positions are: Membership, Programs, Scholarship, Publicity, Junior ROTC, Flight Chaplain, and Flight Photographer. Current members will remain on the ballot unless I hear otherwise from them. REMINDER: Many of you may qualify to participate in Honor Flight. It is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. Honor Flight Dayton is currently taking applications from WWII Veterans and Korean Veterans. These flights are all free to those who qualify. They have a nice web site that shows all the upcoming flights: http://honorflightdayton.org/ .
