CRANIUM CRUNCHES – Researchers say that the “use it or lose it” principle applies to your brain as well as your body. Come challenge your brain and enhance your memory with activities, puzzles and games! Please register. Fridays, 10-11am. GAME ROOM – Come play a game of billiards or air hockey from 9:00am – noon, Monday – Friday. Equipment available at the front desk.

TABLE GAMES – Love to play board and card games but don’t have a partner? Join us in a game and maybe learn a new one. You can pick from our selection or bring your own. May the best player win! Mondays - Fridays, 10am - noon. TABLE TENNIS - If you haven’t played table tennis in years, now is the time to join. Arlington Mill is looking for players of all levels of ability to participate in competitive games. Drop by on weekdays to play.

LUNCHES Lunches are served Mondays - Fridays at noon to qualifying seniors age 60 and older. Reservations can be made up to one week ahead by calling 703-2287396 or signing up at the center. However, you can also order your lunch the day before by noon. Please cancel your lunch if you can not come. The cost of the meal is $7.31 or a contribution based on the participant’s income. All qualifying seniors wanting to receive lunch will need to complete all appropriate paperwork before receiving a meal.

AFAC—Arlington Food Assistance Center Limited food is donated from the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) on Mondays at 12:00pm to qualifying seniors. It is REQUIRED that an AFAC application be completed and approved before receiving food assistance for you and your family. See staff for details.

September 2016 Participants in Arlington County Senior activities must be registered with the Office of Senior Adult programs and hold a current 55+ Pass. Please register ahead of time for all programs and classes. STORYTELLER HOUR Riveting oral stories can transport and engage. Join local Arlingtonians for stories that span time and place. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch. Published author Mary Wuest will speak on the history of village life in a German forest, from the 11th to mid-19th centuries. She’ll describe working and living conditions under heavy governance; times of wars, witch trials and famines. Mary’s talk is based on years of research for her book "Spessart Roots". Join NVRC ‘s Outreach Manager, Bonnie O'Leary, for an informative program on hearing loss which will include a discussion including the causes of hearing loss and how to recognize it, myths and truths about hearing aids, how to discuss hearing loss with someone you care about as well as simple and effective communication strategies. Open Ballroom Dance at Arlington Mill Fridays, September 9 & 23, 1-3pm Enjoy the company of friends old and new swaying cheek to cheek on a spacious dance floor. Held 1st and 3rd Fridays at Lee and 2nd and 4th Fridays at Arlington Mill. Dances vary between tango, waltz, foxtrot and swing and all will have the opportunity to dance and have fun. No partner required.

TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS Take a Taxi - Senior Adult Transportation (SCAT) is Arlington’s senior center transportation service for all residents 55+. Through SCAT, you can take pre-arranged taxicabs to and from senior adult program locations for $2.50 each way. For an application call 703-892-8747. For people age 60 and older who live in the nearby Arlington neighborhoods, transportation to our lunch program may be available.
