CLASS DESCRIPTION An attractive and convenient caddy/organizer that will accommodate your class sewing supplies, snacks & goodies for a trip, knitting or embroidery supplies, toys for a child, and sooooo much more. There are seven slip pockets on the front, back, and end, along with an end zippered pocket. Inside expanding dividers open to organize a multitude of supplies or collapse flat to make lots of room inside. Padded handles make carrying easy and rectangle rings allow them to fall flat along the side. These make wonderful gifts for a special friend, also. Caddy is 7” H x 13 1/2" W x 6 1/2" D SUPPLIES Main fabric (body of organizer, pockets, dividers) Lining fabric (lining of organizer, pockets, dividers) Contrasting fabric (bindings, handles, zipper pull) Soft & Stable* (stabilizer for organizer) Mid-weight fusible interfacing (inner dividers) 1 1/2" strapping (handle tabs) Zipper 1 ½” hardware for handles* Foam core or heavy cardboard Catch All Caddy pattern*
1 yard ** 1 yard ** 1 1/8 yard *** 18” x 58” ¾ yard Four 10” pieces One 9” or longer polyester Four rectangle rings 6” x 12 1/2"
* Available at Sew Many Quilts & Bernina ** You will need more fabric if it is directional *** I prefer a long bias piece for binding rather than the method the pattern uses. To do this takes an extra 1/8 yard fabric. There is an alternate cutting layout on the next page.
▪ Sewing machine in good working order with 1/4" foot, zipper foot, blind hem or edge stitch foot, free motion foot (if desired), and walking foot or dual feed if your machine has it. ▪ Rotary cutter, mat, quilter’s rulers ▪ Pins and Wonder Clips ▪ Washable pen/pencil for marking lines ▪ Stiletto ▪ Scissors ▪ Thread for piecing and for top stitching (this can match or contrast) ▪ General sewing supplies
BEFORE CLASS ▪ Please read through the pattern. There are many steps and it will give you a better understanding of what we will be doing. ▪ CUT OUT FABRIC BEFORE COMING TO CLASS. If you have problems or questions you can phone me at home 541-383-8221. ▪ Make a copy of page 8, the labels you will need for the pattern pieces. Be sure to pin a label to each piece of fabric as you cut it. There are many pieces. On page 2 there is a checkbox beside each piece of fabric to be cut, so that you can keep track of what you have already cut. ▪ Do Not do any quilting at home, we will do it in class. ▪ Use the cutting diagram on page 7 to cut out both the main and lining fabrics. The fabric is cut from a single layer of fabric and space limitations at the store are why I want you to cut it out at home. • PLEASE NOTE: The main fabric and lining fabric layout are the same, EXCEPT the main fabric inner front divider and inner back divider are 5 1/2" tall rather than 6 1/4". ▪ Cut out the contrasting fabric. • Below is an alternate layout for cutting the contrasting fabric. I personally do not like to have lots of seams in my bias binding and that is the way the pattern suggests you do it. I have changed the layout to give you only one seam in the bias binding. It is up to you if you want to use it. My copy of the pattern has Bias Binding twice on the layout. The 16 ½” x 13 ½” piece should say Stabilizer Sleeve. ▪ Cut the Soft & Stable to the sizes described on page 2 in the second column. ▪ Cut the mid-weight fusible interfacing & label. I used Pellon’s SF 101. ▪ By allowing two days, we should have enough time to quilt the fabric and complete everything in class. I look forward to this class. I will have samples of each step as we move along. Class size will be limited to 8 so that everyone will get individual attention. Alternate Contrast Fabric Cutting Layout
CANCELLATIONS: Cancellation must be made 10 days prior to the first day of class for a refund. Cancellation less than 10 days before the first day of class forfeits all registration monies paid.
