To Whom It May Concern: I have had the pleasure of working with Mark Joseph (Joe) Strobel at Noe Middle School in Louisville, KY for the past three years. I have witnessed Mr. Strobel grow as a teacher over that time and feel very confident speaking on behalf of his teaching ability and personal attributes. Mr. Strobel has been fortunate enough to teach to a very diverse group of students. Joe is very well trained in differentiating his instruction to meet the levels of all learners and is savvy when it comes to integrating technology into his lessons. As his evaluator last year, I was very impressed with his content knowledge in the area of science and his ability to probe for higher thinking in the students through his questioning techniques. Expectations in Mr. Strobel's classroom are always high and the challenge and rigor of his instruction can be seen and felt at all times. Joe's rapport with all groups is remarkable. However, I must say that I personally admire his work with the students coming from low socio-economic environments. Joe reaches out to these individuals, serving as a mentor and giving of his time outside of school. Many of these students lack a male role model in their lives and some are missing even the slightest amount of stability as they deal with difficult circumstances in their homes. To many of these students, Mr. Strobel is their stability and their one person they know they can trust. Joe Strobel is the epitome of a lifelong learner. It comes as no surprise to me that Joe wishes to further enhance his personal and professional life by teaching abroad. That says a lot about his character—risk taker, adventurous, interested in making a difference for all people. Joe encompasses everything you could ever want in a bright, young, energetic teacher, as well as, a man with a gigantic heart and soul. I am not certain exactly where Joe's next adventure will take him. I do know that he will be greatly missed by all here at Noe Middle School. With that being said, it is without reservation, I strongly recommend your school system hire Mark Joseph Strobel. You will be impressed! Sincerely,
Gina Shemwell Assistant Principal Samuel V. Noe Middle School Louisville, KY
