ANGEi, BAND COUNT; (What is needed: Paper angels, magnet strips, metal cookie sheet) Place a magnet strip on the back of each angel. Set the cookie sheet and the angels out for the kids to place on the cookie sheet. As kids place the angels on the cookie sheet, count with them. Count as they take the angels off too. LETS TALK: "During Bible Time, we heard how an angel came to tell the shepherds good news. What was the good news? (God's Son, Jesus was born.) Then a lot of angels appeared. What did the angels do? (They praised God.) A whole angel band praised God when Jesus was born. I wonder how many angels were in that angel band? (Probably a lot!) We have a lot of angels, but I can only imagine that there were a lot more angels that night in the fields with the shepherds. Wow! That must have been an exciting night! God sent Jesus to earth because He loves us. Let's praise God like the angels did. We can say, 'Happy Birthday, Jesus! Thank you for coming to earth to be my friend forever."' PLEASE NOTE: Take some time to sing praises to God. Sing some favorite Christmas songs or use the piggyback songs. Who loves you? God loves me. What can you share? I can share God's love. BIBI,E TIME DRESS-UP; (Simple costumes - instructions included on a separate page, scarves or towels, stretchy head bands, glittery halos, animal ears) Reenact the Christmas story with the kids. Allow plenty of time for the kids to dress-up freely as desired. The kids may wish to tell you the Christmas story. LETS TALK: "Let's dress-up and think about all the things that we've been talking about this month. Let's see, this looks like an angel costume. Would you like to be an angel, Jesse? What news did the angel bring to Mary and Joseph? (Mary was going to have a special baby. Her baby would be God's Son, Jesus.) Here are some donkey ears. Where did Mary and Joseph have to go before Jesus was born? (To Bethlehem.) Mary probably rode a donkey on the way. Who wants to wear the donkey ears? Clip, clop, clip, clop, little donkey. When Mary and Joseph got to Bethlehem, they had to find a place to stay. I see some more ears. These ears look like cow and sheep ears. Where did Mary and Joseph stay? (In a stable or barn where animals sleep.) Jesus was born in a stable. Now let's put on the shepherd costumes. What were the shepherds doing? (Watching their sheep in the fields.) Where are you angel? There you are. The angel brought good news to the shepherds. 'God's Son, Jesus, has come to earth.' Then the shepherds went to see baby Jesus. I had fun playing with you.
