NATIVITY PI.AV SET: (What is needed: Simple nonbreakable Nativity set) Set the Nativity set out on a table or a mat on the floor for the kids to play with freely. Play with the kids talking about the Christmas story as you play. Keep the set out all month. LET'S TALK: "This looks like Joseph and here's Mary. What animals do you see? Who do you think the baby is? Yes, it is Jesus. Jesus is God's one and only Son. Jesus is God's very best gift to us. I'm glad we have Christmas to celebrate Jesus birthday. Let's pretend Joseph and Mary are walking to Bethlehem. That was a long walk! I'm glad that God was with them and watching out for them. I'm glad that Jesus was born. RIDE A DONKEY REVIEW: (What is needed: Simple costumes and a stick horse/donkey are optional) Walk around the room pretending to ride a donkey to Bethlehem. LET'S TALK: "Have you ever rode a donkey or a pony? Let's pretend that we are riding a donkey all the way to Bethlehem. Clip, clop, clip, clop! Hee haw! I wonder what it would be like to ride a 15 MINUTES donkey. When you go somewhere, you probably ride in a car or an airplane. Would you like to ride a donkey on a long trip? I don't think riding a donkey for a long time would be very comfortable. During Bible Time today, we heard how Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. Use the 'LET'S TALK' Mary probably rode on a donkey. Let's pretend we're going on a trip to Bethlehem. It's a long way guided conversation as to walk! Oh my, here are some big rocks. Let's walk around them. I'm hungry! We'll stop here and you interact with the kids. eat. Maybe we can get a drink from this little stream over here. Now let's jump over the stream. Are we almost there? Look and see! (Put hand up by eyes.)Do you see Bethlehem? We're almost there. When we get there, we'll look for a place to rest. I'm really tired. (Yawn.) Here we are!
