Guests were vetted w/a few questions by the Board. It was noted that all new teams will be assigned a mentor from the Executive Board.
Mission Moments: Tedrick Caldwell form Tillman Natalie & Ros from Mentoring ***The partnership between the Shrine Circus and MSPAL was noted. Financial Review: Dues are being changed from $25 to $10 and it was noted that if there is no food donation for that month there will only be lite snacks (i.e chip & dips) at the monthly meetings. $500 fee- if a team/organization does not have the $500 fee at this time an IOU must be discussed/submitted indicating when & how that fee will be paid. The taking of fees for sports will begin shortly. The process will be that when monies is paid to the financial secretary the names will be written down on receipt and then applications will be given to General Secretary to be recorded on roster. This is to be able to go back and reconcile any discrepancies with number of paid vs number on roster and/or paid. Website is up and ready for online registration.

Sports Administrator Reports: TrackUniforms will not be back in time. It was discussed that the temporary uniform will be team colored shirts and black shorts. BaseballThe contact person for the Memphis Little League for which we are participating in is Kerry Cobb. Season should start around April 20th. President –Kevin will be the lead person in this endeavor and he needs all teams to get the following information to him: number of participant per age group (6u,8u, 10u & 12u) as well as uniform sizes. ***It was noted that the budget numbers for Baseball is 60 & Track is 40. When reporting for uniforms even if you don’t have the full budget numbers participant we still have to order the full budget amount so for remaining uniforms do a variety of sizes for future use. Football Spring Football may not be a go due to the spring sports currently going on All were encouraged to go ahead have coaches start on their Head’s Up certification, cost $10 In the works of getting the USA Football Clinic here in Memphis, hosted by Memphis Shelby PAL It was noted that being USA certified adds an additional $1 Million dollar policy Each team was reminded that they must select a team Player Safety Coach and get that information to the Football Administrator. This person will receive specific special training. Location for that training is still pending. Requesting bylaws for baseball Raines Tigers Mass registration was held last Saturday, went well Participating in: Track – 15 signed up (0 paid) Baseball- 5 signed up (0 paid) Practice: Wed/Fri 4:30/6:30- Track at Whitehaven HS Tillman Mustangs Sign-up events: Math & Science night at Kingsbury March 22nd. As well as Fun Night at Douglass at the end of the month 6 coached have taken backgrounds Participating in: Track-9 Volleyball-3 Baseball- 6 (Still looking for a coach) Soccer -4 Practice: T/W/Th at East High School - Track
Coordinators’ Reports: Fundraising/EventsAll were reminded about the License Plate Fundraiser Impact Use PAL email addresses as much as possible We still need at least 10 people paid in full to do the business cards All PAL team Facebook pages need to be business pages, this helps in the advertisement efforts across the board Currently working on logos & websites for Tipton Co. Donations Monthly Meal- if we do not have food donations for that monthly will serve light snack such as chips & dips Received a check from the Kroger Community Rewards for $38.64 We currently have 7 households signed up. It was further discussed how we could get that number of participation up: flyers shared in parents groups, email, websites and handed out at Mass Registration/Sign-ups All was encouraged to sign-up Tuesday and that computer would be brought to next meeting for those needing to sign-up. It was noted that it is important to be sure that Facebook pages are business pages and updated regularly as they serve as a tool when seeking sponsorship. Volunteer Everyone was reminded and encouraged to complete background checks Volunteer Odyssey – we were introduced to this program through our partnership with the city of Memphis, which will allow tracking volunteers as well as post our events on the website for other to see and be able to sign-up to assist. There will be training on Volunteer Odyssey once the application is complete. Committee Reports: BylawsAmendment submission process is now closed. Submissions are being prepared for presenting. The next step in the bylaw process is the presentation and voting process and the first meeting for that is Tuesday, March 6th GovernanceNo report ScholarshipNo report Vision – Currently in talks and working getting Crump Station involved, spoke with precinct leadership as well as the principals at BTW & East, all are interested and on-board. It was discussed that Track would be with partnership with East and football with partnership with BTW.
Got the keys to the Ed Rice facility that would be used to serve as a main office for PAL. Still need renovations. Currently in works of setting up a volunteer day where all will be able to signup to come out and help with some lite demolition task and clean-up. More information to come soon
DMV contract is signed, but finalization is still pending confirmation that the allumiuinm currently inside the building belongs to PAL or not. Also confirmed with MPD that the current security cameras can be used for security.
We are currently at about 8 teams and the process is closed for new teams.
Emphasized the current Missed Meeting policy for the year: 3 missed called meetings (meetings on the MSPAL Calendar) in a row will be submitted to the CVO & President for consultation and further action if necessary or a total of 4 missed meetings within a year’s time.
It was noted that the following are in violation of the Missed meeting policy: Chris Miller, Cherokee Dolphins, SEMAA Tigers (Appling pending clarification)
