Silhouettes in Photoshop 1. Take a headshot picture. Try to use a solid background and/or make the backlight brighter so your job will be easier to capture just the person in Photoshop.
2. Open your picture in Photoshop and go down to the layers pallet. Make a copy of your picture in the layers pallet. Right Click on picture and choose Duplicate Layer. 3. Click on the black and white circle to bring up a menu.
4. In the menu scroll down to Threshold and click on it.
5. This is going to make your picture convert to a high contrast black and white picture.
6. When the dialogue box for Threshold comes up, you can move the slider so you can see the outline of the person more and get rid of the black background.
7. Select the brush tool from your tool bar on the left.
8. Create a new layer. Shft+Ctrl+N 9. Go to the top of your screen under the menu and find the tools available to pick a larger and harder brush and can slide on the dialogue box to make it larger. The brackets on the keyboard is the short cut to make your brush smaller or larger.
10. You can toggle back and forth to outline in black when needed around the person or white to get rid of the black.
11. When you are done you can flatten the image to get rid of the layers. Under the Layers menu.
12. Create a new layer to start adding text. Create a layer for each word that describes you are the person you are making a silhouette of. 13. Choose the Text tool on the toolbar on the left. You can choose the font and font color.
14. Ctrl+T will put it in transform mode so you can rotate the text and move it around. Hit Enter when you have the text placed to have it accept the move. 15. Make a Layer to also add your name at the top of the Silhouette.
16. Flatten the Image again. 17. Save the image as a JPG.
