Sketchup Lessons: Pottery 1. Begin by searching for “skechup” in Spotlight. Click on the Sketchup icon.
2. Next, click on “Template” and select “Architecural Design- Feet and Inches”. Click “Start using Sketchup”.
3. Click File --> New.

4. Click View --> Customize Toolbar
5. Drag the “Standard Views” toolbar onto the top toolbar.
6. Click “Done”.

7. Click the “Front” button.
8. Using the blue line as a guide, draw a rectangle using the Rectangle tool.
9. Using the Line tool, make the following 6 lines inside the rectangle.

10. Make two more lines. 1 2
11. Click on the Select tool and click on the small rectangle.

12. Press Delete on your keyboard.
13. Click on the remaining line and press Delete again.
14. Now click on the area below.

15. Press Delete on your keyboard.
16. Click on the remaining line and press Delete again.
17. Click on the Orbit tool and rotate until you’re looking at the rectangle from a bird’s-eye view.

18. Using the Circle tool, draw a small circle on the bottom-right corner of the rectangle.

19. Now click on the “Follow Me” tool. Put your mouse on the rectangle, click your mouse and move the Follow Me tool around the circle.
20. Once the circle connects, let go of the mouse.

21. Feel free to paint the pottery with the Paint Bucket tool.
Extra Credit: New Pottery Styles 22. Draw a rectangle like you did in step 8. This time, however, we are going to use the Arc tool to make the cuts inside the rectangle.

23. Using the Arc tool click near the top of the rectangle. Go near the middle of the rectangle and click again.
24. Now click a third time on the middle of the arc you created.
25. Next click on the bottom of your arc.

26. Create another arc by clicking at the bottom of your rectangle.
27. Now click on the top of the first arc.
28. Click at the top of the rectangle.

29. Using the Select tool, click on the right side of the rectangle. Press Delete on your keyboard.
30. Next, using the Select tool, delete the lines that are not part of the shape on the left.
