Name: Lucie Frenette School: École Paul-VI City: Laval Province: Quebec How did you get involved with TerraCycle and the Snack Pouch Recycling Program? It all started in April 2015 when I read the back of a GoGo squeeZ snack pouch. I saw the TerraCycle logo and wondered what that symbol was. So, my curiosity led me to visit TerraCycle’s website. I signed the school up to the program because I saw a lot of snack pouches being thrown in the garbage at school. Then, I went around to all the classes to explain the project to the children. Each teacher placed a basket in their class and sent a student to drop the snack pouches in the box provided. What inspires your school to recycle with the Snack Pouch Recycling Program? We are inspired to have less waste sent to landfill and to take advantage of a program with rewards to raise funds for our school. It’s also great to set a good example to recycle, and to get families to do the same.

How do you collect so many snack pouches? We use a lot of snack pouches because they avoid spilling on notebooks (especially in preschool, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms). The daycare service also helps us collect snack pouches. What does your school spend your TerraCycle points on? We plan to plant a fruit tree in front of the school, so the children will one day enjoy the harvested berries. Tell us a story about your most moving, exciting, or memorable experience when collecting for the program. When we returned from summer vacation, a family brought me back all the snack pouches that they had collected and kept over the summer. The bag contained about 50 pouches!
