SPEED JENGA RULES INTRAMURAL SPORTS Each player must meet one of the following conditions to sign-in: 1) Present their own, valid WildCard before each contest to be eligible to participate. OR 2) Present a government-issued photo ID and community member pass to be eligible to participate. NO EXCEPTIONS! All Intramural Sports participants are responsible for their own medical expenses. Any participant unsure of their physical condition should check with their family physician or the student health center before participating in Intramural Sports. Game time is forfeit time. Speed Jenga will be self-officiated. Teams are responsible for keeping their spectators under control. Misconduct of spectators, players or coaches can result in assessment of a penalty, ejection or forfeiture of the game. Spectators must also remain in the area designated by the supervisors. The intramural supervisors and officials shall have the power to make decisions on any matters or questions not specifically covered in the rules. The official Jenga rules will govern all play for any rule not covered in the following Intramural Sports rules:

1. Players 1.1 The game shall be played between two individual players. 1.2 This is an open tournament so there are no gender classifications.

2. The Game 2.1 Speed Jenga consists of one Tumbling Timbers Set and two stop watches. 2.2 The tower will be set up with 18 initial rows. 2.3 The objective of the game is to build up the tower in the least amount of time without knocking the tower over by removing blocks from completed rows and adding them to the top of the tower. 2.4 The game ends when a player causes the tower to collapse or when there are no more playable moves. 2.5 A coin toss or similar method will be used to determine which player goes first. 2.6 Players will alternate pulling blocks from the tower and placing it on the topmost level of the tower. 2.6.1 A player’s turn will begin and their timer will start when the official says go or once the other player finishes their turn.

SPEED JENGA RULES INTRAMURAL SPORTS 2.6.2 A player’s turn ends and their timer will turn off when they have placed the block on top of the tower. Blocks must be placed 3 across and in a direction that is perpendicular to the blocks in the row before it. 2.6.3 Players must wait until their opponent’s turn ends before touching the board. 2.6.4 Players may not pull blocks from the top 2 completed rows. 2.6.5 A player has 20 seconds to begin their turn. This includes waiting the 10 seconds to see if the tower will fall. The player may take as long as necessary to pull the block as long as they begin pulling the block before the 20 seconds is up. 2.6.6 The last block touched before the 20 seconds are up is the block that must be pulled 2.6.7 Players may only use the blocks touching the block they are attempting to pull out as leverage and may not adjust the tower to stop it from falling. 2.7 If the tower falls within 10 seconds of placing a block on the top of the tower and before the opponent touches it, the last player to touch the tower loses. 2.8 The player who does not knock over the tower or who used up the least amount of time for their turns in a tied game will win. 2.8.1 Games will be called a tie if there is no winner after 15 minutes. The winner will be determined by least amount of time used.

3. Tournament play 3.1 Teams will be seeded into the single elimination bracket based off of record, head to head, time allowed, and random number generation. 3.2 The championship game will be a best of 3 series. First player to win 2 games will win the championship.

4. Drop-in Tournament Adjustments 4.1 Drop in games will have modified rules to allow for individual players to compete. 4.2 Individual players will participate by themselves to create the highest tower they can in the shortest amount of time. 4.3 The winner from each campus will be the individual that created the highest tower in the shortest amount of time. 4.4 Should an individual “max out” their tower, meaning they have no more playable moves, they will receive 30 seconds off of their total time.
