SPIKEBALL RULES INTRAMURAL SPORTS Each player must meet one of the following conditions to sign-in: 1) Present their own, valid WildCard before each contest to be eligible to participate. OR 2) Present a government-issued photo ID and community member pass to be eligible to participate. NO EXCEPTIONS! All Intramural Sports participants are responsible for their own medical expenses. Any participant unsure of their physical condition should check with their family physician or the student health center before participating in Intramural Sports. Game time is forfeit time. Spikeball will be self-officiated. Teams are responsible for keeping their spectators under control. Misconduct of spectators, players or coaches can result in assessment of a penalty, ejection or forfeiture of the game. Spectators must also remain in the area designated by the supervisors. The intramural supervisors and officials shall have the power to make decisions on any matters or questions not specifically covered in the rules. The official Spikeball rules will govern all play for any rule not covered in the following Intramural Sports rules:
1. Teams 1.1 The game shall be played with two players per team. 1.2 This is an open league so there are no gender classifications.
2. The Game 2.1 The game consists of one circular net and one Spikeball. 2.2 The first team to win 2 out of 3 games will be the winner. 2.3 The first team to reach at least 21 points, win by 2, will win that game. The point cap will be 25. 2.3.1 Rally scoring will be used (teams do not need to serve to score). 2.3.2 If a team wins by forfeit, they will automatically receive a score of 21-0, 21-0. 2.4 Opposing teams will stand across from each other with the Spikeball set in the center. 2.5 The ball is put into play with a serve. Once the ball is served, players can move anywhere they want – there are no sides and no boundaries.

SPIKEBALL RULES INTRAMURAL SPORTS 2.6 The object of the game is to hit the ball onto the net so that opposing team cannot return it. 2.7 Each team is allowed up to three hits to return the ball. 2.8 Points are scored when: 2.8.1 The ball does not bounce off the net in a single bounce. 2.8.2 The ball hits the rim of the net. 2.8.3 The ball hits the ground. 2.8.4 A player hits a shot off the net and the ball hits their teammate or themselves. 2.8.5 An intentional hindrance occurs.
3. Playing the ball 3.1 The ball is started by a serve. The serving player will toss the ball into the air and spike it down into the net towards the opposing team. The ball must come off of the net cleanly. Teammates should alternate serves each time a team is given a new term of service. 3.2 Hits must alternate between teammates as a player shall not make successive contacts of the ball. 3.3 Players may use any part of the body to hit the ball as long as they do not scoop, hold, or throw the ball. The ball may not visibly come to rest on the player’s hands, fingers, or any other part of the body. 3.4 Should there be a dispute as to who won the point or if there is an accidental hindrance, the point shall be replayed.
