Context: This half term Year 2are learning about dinosaurs!
Term: Spring 1 Topic: Deadly Dinosaurs Hand in Date: Monday 6th February 2017
We will be researching where different dinosaurs lived, what they ate, how big they were and exploring how scientists unlocked the secret would of dinosaurs from examining fossils.
What I need to do: Part 1 1. Choose your favourite dinosaur 2. Make your favourite dinosaur (labelled 2D drawing or 3D model) 3. Place your dinosaur in a suitable habitat by creating a background scene. Part 2 1. Write a report about your dinosaur. The report should tell us: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Its full name What types of food it eats. Where it lives. How long ago it lived. Any other interesting facts.
Resources I will need:
Big paper, colourful card, pencil crayons, scissors, glue. Books and information about your dinosaur Your imagination! Questions to think about:
1. What dinosaur am I interested in? 2. When did it live on Earth? 3. What types of food did it eat? 4. What did it look like? 5. Where did it live? What type of habitat did it live in?
Skills I will use:
Researching Planning Writing Explaining Cutting and sticking Discussing ideas
How an adult can help me: Adults can help by talking my plan through with me first. They can also help me find books about my dinosaur at the Library, or help me to research my dinosaur on the computer. They can help me put information into my own words.
