Give It to the Worms: Composting! Gr. 1-6; indoors or outdoors; April—June Students will learn about recycling of organic material, how to define compost/composting and how to build a compost pile. This program includes exploring and understanding the cycle of life. We will explore a compost pile with worms– the hands-on part of this program. Composting, as part of soil science is discovering how soil organisms turn waste into recourse.

The Living Tree House Gr. K-1; indoors; March—May Students will learn about the importance of trees for a healthy environment and for providing the food that we eat. The environmental aspects of this program include the use of wood products and the trees effect on forest animals. The parts of a tree are reviewed and the class plays a mini forest game. The program concludes with drawing a tree with animals, illustrating what they have learned.
