eNews The 7 Last Words of Christ Cantata Sung by the St. Philip and Paul Laurence Dunbar Choirs Narrated by Denise Strickland. Palm Sunday, April 13 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Philip Come and bring a friend! Maundy Thursday We remember the evening before Jesus died, when he shared the Last Supper with his followers. The service of the Holy Eucharist including the washing of feet begins on April 17 at 7:00 p.m. The liturgy concludes with the dramatic stripping of the Altar representing the arrest, stripping and passion of Jesus. We leave the Church in darkness and silence.

Good Friday Good Friday will be observed on April 18 at St. Philip from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. We will join with the churches from the East Side Fellowship to remember the seven last words of Jesus from the cross as we mark his time of crucifixion and death.
April 17
Easter Vigil Saturday, April 19, at St. Alban’s Church in Bexley at 8:00 p.m. This year’s Easter vigil will be jointly celebrated with St. Philip, Trinity (Capitol Square) and St. Alban’s (Bexley) at St. Alban’s. This is a beautiful and ancient liturgy, which marks the beginning of Easter. Traditionally those to be baptized would spend the night in prayer and fasting. Just as dawn breaks, the paschal fire is lit and the great stories from the Bible, which recall Gods’ saving actions are told. We will gather outside for the lighting of the paschal fire and candle, hear the stories of God’s deliverance and process into the church carrying our lit candles. In the Church we will celebrate Baptisms and the Service of the Holy Eucharist. Please plan to attend this glorious liturgy. Several St. Philippians will be baptized. Please attend to support them.

Sunrise Easter Sunday Church Service Sunrise 7:00 a.m. - April 20, Woodland Christian Church. Once again this year, we will share our sunrise service with the people of Woodland Christian Church. This year we will be back at Woodland, Fr. Karl Ruttan preaching, and our choir participating. Breakfast will follow.
