1 STATEMENT BY THE PROGRESSIVE PEOPLE’S PARTY (PPP) Delivered by Ms. Eva Lokko Date: 26th November 2015 Venue: Mensvic Hotel, Accra ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mr. Chairman, Nii mԑԑ kԑ Naa mԑԑ, Honorable Regional Minister, All protocols observed; My name is Eva Lokko and I am here with William Doworkpor. We are from the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Party Papa Paaa. We are very happy to be part of this process and we congratulate NDPC for winning the battle to implement its mandate of providing us with a national development plan. We hope that they will have all the legal backing to ensure that this 40-year development plan is implemented by each and every government from now and forever more. The Progressive People’s Party believes that this plan must ensure incorruptible leadership, leadership that is bold enough to punish wrongdoers, kick out corruption, fix our economic problems and ensure that each Ghanaian is healthy, wealthy and happy. Because it is only with happiness that together we can build a strong nation. We are looking at incorruptible leadership that will ensure that the government will use its purchasing power to support local enterprises and companies, and give wealth to our farmers and fisher folk. We are looking forward to a plan that will ensure that each and every Ghanaian, no matter where they find themselves, have access to free, compulsory, continuous, quality education to ensure that we will have a productive citizenry. We are also looking forward to a plan that will ensure that the government, the private sector and young entrepreneurs will together create jobs to stem the unemployment which is running out of hand in our country. Now, if you are going to work, it also means that we have to be healthy. So we are looking forward to a plan that will ensure preventive healthcare as the first line of defense because curative healthcare is very expensive and takes away money that can be used elsewhere.

2 We are also looking forward to a situation where, if all the regions, districts are coming to tell NDPC what they need, what their local requirements are, then of course, we are looking forward to a plan that will ensure that the local people will elect their leaders, i.e. MMDCEs, so that they can hold them accountable for local development. Now, don’t leave this room until you have provided the local content to be able to own this process which I would like to see as a plan by the people, for the people. And I want to ask all other political parties to start thinking outside the box and forget about our “We-know-what-you-want manifestos” and adopt this 40-year development plan, and only tell Ghanaians that this is how we as a political party are going to implement the 40year development plan. NDPC is on the right road. We need to all rally behind them, own this process, and if any government comes into power and refuses to implement the 40 year plan, we kick them out of office. I thank you all very much.
