A WORD FROM PASTOR MARIE Hello Friends, Have you ever received a gift that you neglected to use, until one day you rediscovered it, and it became extremely useful? Recently I found a brand new diary that was hidden away for years; today it has become a great tool for me to write my stories in once again. In June, FM’s Board of Directors and staff had the distinct honour of celebrating with over 300 people the 15th anniversary of Foundations Ministries Inc. Interestingly, when God spoke into my spirit about leaving the pastorate and assuming the life of the Evangelist, it was a fearful call. Many friends lovingly cautioned me about the difficulties of surviving on the road alone. Some friends informed me that the role of the Evangelist, as scripturally known, was no longer a functional gift for our day. However, I heard a different sound in my spirit and with the confirmation and affirmation of ministers such Rev. Stuart Mulligan, the late Rev. Bob King, Rev. Rick Trenholm, Rev. Colin Gittens, Rev. Craig Burton, the late Rev. Harold Reid, the late Rev. Bob Winter, and other incredible friends; I pursued God’s call with passion
and earnest tenacity. Along the way, I made many mistakes, yet was able to see God prove His Word. The role of the Evangelist is still viable – it is not extinct! At this point in the journey, I have seen the powerful hand of God orchestrate so many miraculous ministry opportunities around the world; I have seen thousands saved, filled with the Holy Spirit and delivered from the grips of demonic powers; and I am thankful that God will use even the unorthodox gifting of any evangelist. Now I am looking forward, with anticipation, to seeing a younger generation rise up and take their places as called Evangelists, and for all of us to learn to function as everyday evangelists. God can use the eclectic, unconventional, even maverick spirited to reach a transient and ever-changing world. Today, there is a pervasive thought that some gifts are no longer relevant. For instance, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, has seemingly fallen in that category. Personally, I sense the same passion and tenacity that propelled me in the past to step into the arena of proving
God’s Word. Can we together prove God’s Word & wonders in a decade of skepticism and self-reliance, because none of God’s gifts are extinct? Friends, let us journey together in prayer, in experience, in faith and in expectation; believing that God will once again orchestrate the realm of the miraculous upon this current generation, especially in the area of Holy Spirit baptism. While many people today feel that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a past time, I trust you will ask God for a personal refreshing in your own life. Let us together embark on the Acts 2 call – one that summons us to declare with boldness that this is the greatest hour of need for Holy Spirit empowerment, especially for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This empowerment gift is given so we will reach the lost. Jude 1:3 says, “Contend for the faith”, therefore, let us also contend for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The word of assurance that God deposited in my spirit comes from 1 Samuel 3:3: “For the lamp of the Lord had not yet gone out”. While many are falling away, while ungodly behaviour is

acceptable to many, while the lostness of humanity is being ignored by many believers, God’s lamp is still lit, and His light is still shining! Please allow it to shine brighter in you this next decade. UPCOMING MISSION TRIP • NOVEMBER 2013 In this decade of newness – God, the Holy Spirit is still baptizing generations, and releasing them into works of service, just as He did in Acts 2. I am looking forward to a new season – a season of seeing the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, operating freely among all believers. T h i s g a t e w ay towards evangelism is a precious gift – one to be treasured but also used daily. Partner with us somewhere on the journey at one of FM’s Re-Ignite Conferences in the coming season. Pursue being refreshed and prepare yourself to be a witness to others. The glorious assurance we have is that – the Holy Spirit never left us! Perhaps we need to rediscover our great tool and retell our stories once again.
