JAALA SPIRO’S BOOK SIGNING & COZY COWL WORKSHOP Jaala Spiro is at the helm of Knitcircus Publications, writer of weekly newsletters, mom to two, designer and co-host of the Knitcircus podcast! Jaala has written Knitting Recipes: Hats & Cowls and will be at Stitchers Crossing to discuss her book and sign copies. After the book signing, Jaala will teach a cowl class. Both long and closer fitting cozy cowls make any wardrobe more stylish. Using scissors and fabric as your paintbrush and canvas, you will create a 16” x 20” version of the scene Birches In Fields Of Gold. Note...students will be cutting the elements of their piece free-hand. There are no templates or patterns used with this technique. When finished, you may choose to quilt or frame your piece of art. Learn techniques for making machine quilting easier and more fun. In the morning we will cover machine guided, straight line quilting such as stitch in the ditch, grids and diagonals. There will be a trunk show of quilts and ideas, along with a lecture on math and methods for making triangle units. If a pattern or book is required for your class, you must have your own copy. •Know how to operate your sewing machine for classes that involve one and be sure it is in good working order before you come to class. •It’s best to have your own equipment (rulers, rotary cutter, etc…) in order to accomplish what is necessary to feel success. •Our quilting workshops are for piecing the top only. •Cancellations must be made at least one week prior to class in order to receive a refund. If we have to cancel a class, you will receive a full refund or credit can be applied to another class or merchandise.
SKILL LEVEL KEY Beginner: Easy projects. Little or no knowledge of quilting or knitting. You must know how to use your sewing machine if one is needed for class. Advanced Beginner: Quilters must know basics of quilting and use of rotary cutter. We recommend Basic Quiltmaking class before taking advanced beginner level. Knitters must know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. Intermediate: Fully comfortable with rotary cutting, basic quiltmaking techniques and piecing using 1/2 and 1/4 triangles. Knitters must be comfortable with more advanced concepts, e.g., gauge changing and stitch patterns.
KNIT CLUB Join Terry Rutlin this fall and explore the world of knitting. In October, Terry will unravel the mystery of yarn selection and how to substitute yarn and needles when necessary. Thursday, October 25th 6:00--8:00PM In November, Terry will be teaching Shadow Knitting. Add dimension to your knitting by simply using knit and purl stitches. Thursday, November 15th 6:00-8:00PM The fee for the two sessions is $35.00 or $20.00 for a single session.
FOLK ART CLUB with Judy Hasheider This year’s club will feature a sampling of several different wool projects. We will work on a satchel for carrying our projects, a pillow, a trio of pincushions, a tablemat and a surprise or two, all designed by Judy Hasheider. Meetings are on the third Wednesday of Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct and Dec. An afternoon group meets from 1:00-4:00PM and an evening group from 6:00-9:00PM. SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER, 2012 QUILT SITTERS CIRCLE Quilt Sitters Circle meets six times a year with Judy Hasheider. Judy designs a new quilt for each meeting, using techniques learned in Judy’s Quilt Logic (formerly It’s OK I & II). Members receive the pattern and instruction for the quilt. Lots of camaraderie and a most inspirational show and tell every meeting.
RED & WHITE QUILT SHOW STITCHERS CROSSING September 5-20 Members of Judy’s Quilt Sitters Circle were challenged to create Red & White quilts, to be completed for show ‘n tell at our July meeting.

The inspiration for these quilts came from the exhibit Infinite Variety-Three Centuries of Red & White Quilts held in New York City, March, 2011.
Anyone who has taken It’s OK 1 and II is eligible to join. In 2012 we will meet the second Tuesday of the odd months (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov) at 1:30PM or 7:00PM.
The quilts shown at QSC were so fabulous we wanted to share some of them with all of you. Over ten quilts will be on display at Stitchers Crossing from September 5th-20th.
January is the best time to join but new members are always welcome. The fee for the year is $50.00...if you bring a guest, the guest fee is $12.00.
PRAIRIE FLOWERS APPLIQUE Block Of The Month Our six month program inspired by Jo Morton’s Prairie Flowers Encore book will include background and applique fabrics for twelve blocks. Each flower block is fast and easy and a good way to spend time during the cooler weather sure to be coming our way. Kay Staskal will begin the series in October with a demo of her hand needle turn applique method, however you can choose your own method of applique. Each month you will pick up two more blocks. The second meeting will be in January to check in on your progress. At the last meeting in March, Kay will cover creative settings for your blocks to personalize your quilt. The first two blocks in the series are on display at the store. Oct (10/6/12); Jan (1/13/13); Mar (3/2/13) 10:00AM Club fee is $60.00 for twelve blocks. Book is required. You will receive 10% club discount on the book and finishing fabric for setting, border and backing.
