JANUARY - FEBRUARY, 2014 QUILT SITTERS CIRCLE It’s a Snowball party!! Quilt Sitters Circle was initially based on the techniques and patterns of Mary Ellen Hopkins. Over the years it has evolved and is now based on the designs of Judy Hasheider. Our club will now be called...Judy’s Tall Grass Quilters...and will no longer have any requirements for membership. Each meeting will feature a pattern created by Judy, a showing of new products in the shop and lots of inspiration from a show and tell of members. We will meet the second Tuesday of the odd months (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov) at 1:30PM or 7:00PM. The new year will begin with a tribute to Mary Ellen who passed away last July. We’ll be having a Snowball Party, based on Mary Ellen’s connector block. For those wishing to participate, our year will also feature a medallion quilt project, “Round by Round”. Even if you decided not to make the project, you will have five great borders for future quilts of your own. January’s meeting will give you the basis of where to start with your center, giving you ideas and size requirements. Each meeting after that will give you a new border to add onto your center. Tuesday, January 14th 1:30PM or 7:00PM January is the best time to join but new members are always welcome. The fee for the year is $55.00. If you bring a guest, the guest fee is $12.00. Come and join us for a Snowball Party as we pay tribute to Mary Ellen Hopkins and celebrate our new name...Judy’s Tall Grass Quilters!
BUYER’S CLUB For $55.00 per year, you may become a member of our Buyer’s Club. This will entitle you to 20% off throughout the year on all fabric, thread, yarn and fabric kits excluding DMC floss. You will receive a card which must be presented each time you make a purchase. Stop in for more details.
SUPER 60 CLUB With Judy Hasheider This new club is based on the equilateral (60º) triangle and will be presented as a class rather than a meeting format. What is so fun about this is...all the angles and optical illusions make it look so much harder than it really is! Each session will focus either on a particular pattern and its variations or on a technique. There will be something offered for everyone, building from the easiest designs to set-in work. If you know basic quilting skills, you can do this. We’ll meet every three months for a total of four meetings throughout the year and you will receive at least eight patterns. Thursday, March 20th, June 19th, September 18th & Tuesday, December 6th 1:00PM or 5:30PM The fee for all four classes is $85.00 or you may sign up for individual classes for $30.00 each class.
FOLK ART WOOL APPLIQUE CLUB with Judy Hasheider Folk Art Wool Applique Club 2014 will feature four new original designs by Judy. A wool patchwork pillow will be the first project presented in February. Wednesday, February 20th 1:00 - 4:00PM or 6:00 - 9:00PM The theme for the year is “a penny saved is a penny earned”! Pennies will be sewn at each meeting, saving them for a tablemat to be made by year end. Meetings are on the third Wednesday of Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct and Dec. An afternoon group meets from 1:00-4:00PM and an evening group from 6:00-9:00PM. The club fee is $55.00 and all patterns are included.
