Bali Breezes is first project for Marti and Me Club What’s not to like about Marti Michell products? Her Perfect Patchwork Templates are designed to make quilts quickly and easily.
Knitters hit the road on ‘delightful’ Yarn Crawl The first mini yarn crawl was so much fun for knitting instructor Penny Little and a few of her students, there are sure to be more scheduled. The happy group put down their needles long enough to head to Sheep Street Fibers in Morgantown where they found the owner ready to do some dyeing and The Clay Purl in Nashville. They spotted a “lovely, lovely place to knit” outside the Clay Purl, Penny reported. An iced coffee from the neighboring Daily Grind was a welcome addition. “We hope to do more yarn crawls, perhaps visiting five shops between here and Northern Indiana,” Penny added. “It was a delightful time.”

Border prints become newest trend in quilting Word spread through the International Quilt Market quickly: Border prints are becoming a popular trend. It’s so popular to use them, in fact, that Timeless Treasures is introducing a line of border prints that stand by themselves. Complementary fabrics won’t be introduced with them. The Easy Striped Table Runner is a Timeless Treasures pattern that has been available for some time. It’s a great use of border prints and can be stitched up quickly. Several staff members are making samples of this pattern in a variety of fabrics. The one thing they say you need to keep in mind when using it is that you need to do your cutting carefully.
.
The Easy Striped Table Runner pattern is free with a purchase at Always In Stitches. Shop hours: 10-5 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday; 10-8 Tuesday, Thursday; closed Sunday

May donations add up to generous gifts Thanks for continuing to crochet, knit and sew for people that need a helping hand. In May, customers donated to Good Samaritan: two crocheted blankets, seven fleece tied blankets, six knit scarves and one hat made in the Thursday night knitting class for beginners. In addition, Samantha Tilman crocheted and donated three blankets for Linus. We also appreciate the many customers who drop off medicine bottles for FAME, the Foundation for African Medicine and Education. FAME has changed its policy, however, and now uses only the small (2 ounce) amber-colored bottles with labels removed.
Try a single-serving treat: 321 Cake is quick, tasty Ruth Middleton hooked us on this treat. Mix 1 box of Angel Food cake mix with 1 box of any other flavor cake mix, and store until ready to use. Combine 3 tablespoons of mix with 2 tablespoons of water in a mug. Microwave 1 minute. Voila! You have a single serving of cake to enjoy on a sewing break.
Dear Lola, Try as I might, I haven’t figured out a way to secure woven ends of yarn on the back of garments. Any suggestions? Loose Ends The solution is easier than you might think. Apply one drop of Fray Check onto ends and let it dry. Your ends will be secured, and the solution does not wash out. Find Fray Check in the notions at Always In Stitches, and keep it handy. It’s useful for all kinds of loose threads when you’re sewing, too.
