Request to transfer $300,000 from Free Cash for the purpose of legal fees, hiring of experts and all related costs relative to litigation of the Eversource Sudbury to Hudson reliability project
Underground transmission line proposed in Sudbury and Hudson along the MBTA right of way
Current litigation in two venues
Land Court (Prior Use Doctrine)
Energy Facilities Siting Board
Currently entering into most expensive time with hearings beginning the end of this month
Past requests
October Town Meeting $185,000 (stabilization)
May Town Meeting: $200,000 (stabilization)
Total spent on these litigations to date: $346,545.10
With bills received this month, the account will be soon be at zero.
With this transfer, we will be at a total of $685,000.
Town Counsel and Special Town Counsel anticipate that this should be enough funding to get the Town to the end of the Siting Board Process, but this does not include any appeals or unknowns.
