2017 North Mississippi Soccer Academy Strikers/Goalkeepers Soccer Camp

Camp Director: Christian Dane, NMSA Tupelo Site Technical Director, brings a decade of coaching experience at many different playing levels and ages and holds the USSF National “B” License, USSF National “Youth” License, Coerver Youth Diploma, NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma & NSCAA Goalkeeping Level I and II Diplomas.

The staff consists of nationally licensed club coaches, college coaches, and former college/ professional players bringing a diverse background of coaching to the individual player and team. NMSA is committed to exposing the players and teams to the best coaching and training available.

Goalkeepers will cover the following topics: shot -stopping, diving, breakaways, distribution, and attack building. Strikers will cover the following topics: finishing techniques, volleys, heading, movement off the ball and 1v1 situations.

Strikers/Keepers Camp Details: Registration information: Any players between born in the years 20072003 can register. You DO NOT have to be an NMSA player to register for this camp. The deadline for registration is June 9, 2017. Please visit the “SOCCER CAMPS” section of www.tupelosoccer.org to register for this exciting new camp offering! Registration is limited to the first 16 goalkeepers and first 24 strikers that register!

Camp cost: The entire camp costs only $85 per player! Checks are made out to TYSA.

Dates and times of camp: Camp begins everyday at 6:00pm and concludes at 8:00pm Monday, June 12th through Friday, June 16th.

Equipment needed: Players should bring cleats, tennis shoes or indoor soccer shoes, shin guards, a soccer ball and athletic attire. Players are advised to bring an extra pair of soccer socks they can change into during breaks. Goalkeepers should bring gloves. Players may bring a snack to eat during one of the breaks. While there are water fountains at the facility, players should bring their own water bottles and sports drinks.

This specialized, five-day camp will focus on the physical, technical, tactical and psychological aspects specific to both strikers and goalkeepers. Players will be exposed to a variety of details that make both strikers and goalkeepers successful at the in the game of soccer. Strikers will learn different finishing techniques, runs off of the ball and how to be clinical in front of the opponent’s goal to create scoring chances for themselves and their teammates. Goalkeepers will learn a multitude of shot-stopping techniques, how to be a commanding presence for their team and how to act as both the last line of defense and the first line of attack.
