Subject of Action Item: Immigration Reform Submitted By: WASDA (Commissioner Salazar, CO) Text of Action Item: Whereas our nation’s agricultural producers need a stable, legal workforce; Whereas producers across the nation have experienced shortages of workers, especially at critical times in the production process; Whereas a recent economic analysis concluded that $5 billion to $9 billion in annual production is in jeopardy if this employee shortage cannot be filled; Whereas reforming our immigration laws to ensure that American Agriculture has reliable access to a stable, legal workforce is critical to the short- and long-term health of our agricultural economy; Be it resolved: That NASDA urges Congress to move swiftly on bipartisan immigration reform consistent with NASDA policy.
