Summer Activities Info HS & MS Summer Olympics: We’re going to be holding the first-ever CrossWay Youth Summer Olympics. On the dates of Sunday night, June 12th, Sunday, July 31st and then Sunday night, August 28th, we’re going to holding combined MS & HS gatherings which will include a brief Biblical teaching and then various “Olympic-style” events & competitions (Note: The August 28th night will have a brief Olympic finale followed by an overview of the new ministry year). There will be a real range of different competitions – from athletic to non-athletic to just plain wacky. It’s going to be a lot of fun! HS Good Book Group: This group is designed to help our HS youth spend their summer reading a good book together which will stir their minds, hearts and affections to pursue the things of God. This summer, the HS students will be reading and discussing Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith by Tim Keller which unpacks the powerful meaning and significance of Jesus’ famous “Parable of the Prodigal Son” (Luke 15:11-32). The meetings will include both a time of discussing the book and playing a fun game / enjoying conversation. The cost of the HS book will be $9 and should be available in the CrossWay bookstore soon. Some book scholarships will be available! MS Good Book Group: This group is designed to help our MS youth spend their summer reading a good book together which will stir their minds, hearts and affections to pursue the things of God. This summer the MS students will be reading and discussing Lost: When the dream turns to a nightmare by Jonty Allcock. This book is written in a very accessible way and will help students grapple with Jesus’ famous “Parable of the Prodigal Son” (Luke 15:11-32). The meetings will include both a time of reading/discussing the book and playing a fun game / enjoying conversation. The cost of the MS book will be $8 and should be available in the CrossWay bookstore soon. Some book scholarships will be available!
MS Adventure Trip: Since 2008, CrossWay Youth has been taking week-long wilderness trips through Camp Forest Springs to provide our students with a unique opportunity to un-plug from daily life, get out into God’s beautiful creation, enjoy the company of other youth & leaders and hopefully, through it all, get to know God better!! This summer, we will be doing a hiking trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (Upper Peninsula, Michigan). The trip is open to all incoming 6th graders through outgoing 8th graders (HS freshmen next year). Students can register online here: https://www.signupforms.com/registrations/7434. HS Worldview Night: This is a special night for HS students to watch a movie together and then spend some time discussing how to engage the movie’s story/themes from a Christian worldview perspective. Should be very thought-provoking! Movie: TBD. Suggestions welcome! MS Scavenger Hunt: All MS students are invited to join us on an adventurous scavenger hunt (with adult chaperones!) throughout Kenosha. More details will be coming, but this is an event not to be missed! Seniors & Youth Summer Luncheon: This special event is an opportunity for MS & HS youth to connect with some of the seniors in our church. We’ll be playing games, eating good food, singing together and generally getting to know one another better. This should be a fun, multi-generational experience! HS & MS Youth Family Night (August 28th): This is an important, envisioning night for all youth and their parents. We will take a peek at what the CrossWay youth ministry will look like in the coming school year, and spend some time praying for God's working in our midst. Please mark it on your calendars!
