Summer Ball • SMLLA rents Trinta Park from Jan. 1 – Nov. 1. • Traditionally we rent the fields in July & August; hope for D52 use. Maintain usage status with Park & Rec. – If we give up the fields we would not likely ever regain field use during this time. Park & Rec will NOT allow SMLLA to sublet or use by other groups if we hold the permit. Other groups can request time from Park & Rec and SMLLA can grant a group access. The other group pays Park & Rec for the fields and is required to provide insurance. • SMLLA’s insurance only covers players registered for SMLLA. SMLLA has to be very careful about what teams are allowed to play on the field. For instance, a child that is playing at Trinta Park is expected to be part of an organized SMLLA program. Allowing a Tournament Team to use the field is not covered by SMLLA insurance and is not permitted by San Mateo Park & Rec. Summary: • SMLLA can set up a Summer Ball Program. The program would be managed field use for “Teams” under the SMLLA umbrella. Each player must be a registered player at SMLLA as this is a requirement of Little League and The City of San Mateo. Fees for Summer Ball will be $50 per player. Cost includes an SMLLA T-‐Shirt and cap and cover field use fees, maintenance fees as well as insurance. • Field availability is from approximately July 8 – August 31, 2015. District 52 teams still engaged in the Little League Tournament will have priority use of the fields. • Field allocations for August will not be defined until field allocations are released in early June/ SMLLA In-‐House Options: • Overview: SMLLA Players will have first priority for field space based upon the number of kids that register. The purpose is to conduct practices and pick up games within your own division. Moving players up is not an option. Safety and how it impacts our insurance coverage is paramount. Playing games with teams from other leagues or teams in different divisions of play is prohibited. • Option A: All Players from T-‐Ball – Majors can register for the program. Division Coordinators will be assigned based upon who registers.
Option B: Players will be recruited/invited by their Division Coordinator to register for the Summer Baseball Program. SMLLA Tournament Teams (Option C) • SMLLA is glad to accommodate a practice field needs for tournament teams. The following criteria applies: • All players must be registered with SMLLA. A non-‐registered player places SMLLA at risk if an accident was to occur. Players not willing to register will forfeit the right of field use and the “Group” will be refunded their registration fee. • All players will be required to wear an SMLLA T-‐Shirt in an effort to avoid being accused of sub-‐ letting the fields. Playing in tournament team uniforms will bring uncalled for attention to and the possible allegations of sub-‐letting the fields at Trinta Park. • Playing games with teams from other leagues or teams in different divisions of play is prohibited. • Must use drop down bases Rules: • Fields must be dragged after each use. Field drag will be behind the Knack box on each field. • Must supply your own ice packs. •
