Summer Basketball League Permission Request Office of Athletic Compliance This form, when completed and signed by the student-athlete, coach, compliance office, and the Athletic Director, permits the student-athlete to participate in a summer basketball league. This form is to provide information to all members of the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs regarding NCAA regulations for summer basketball competition and leagues. Please carefully read the information on the second page. If you have any questions, please discuss them with the Compliance Office or the Director of Athletics. Failure to comply with these NCAA rules for summer competition can severely affect your continued eligibility at Weber State University. Failure to comply with these NCAA rules for summer competition can severely affect your continued eligibility at Weber State. If you are in complete understanding, please complete the front side of this form. NCAA Bylaw 14.7.3.2, Additional Exceptions for Basketball Only (a) Summer League. A student-athlete may compete during the period between June 15 and August 31 or the institution’s opening day of classes, whichever comes earlier, on a team in a league certified per Bylaw 30.14, provided the student-athlete has received written permission from the institution’s athletics director (or the director’s official representative) prior to participation in the league. If the student-athlete is transferring and has been officially accepted for enrollment in a second institution, and if the previous institution certifies that the student has withdrawn and does not intend to return to that institution for the next term, this written permission is to be obtained from the member institution to which the student-athlete is transferring. Under such circumstances, the student-athlete does not count on the summer-league roster as a representative of either institution.
The student-athlete understands the following: 1. I can compete in ONLY one (1) summer basketball league and on one (1) team. 2. The league in which I compete must be FHUWLILHG by the NCAA. A complete list of sanctioned leagues is available on the NCAA’s website. 3. I can compete ONLY during the period between June 15 and August 31 or Weber State’s first day of classes, whichever occurs earlier. 4. Before I compete, I must receive written permission from the Weber State Athletic Department. 5. I CANNOT be on the same team with more than one (1) of my teammates from Weber State. 6. The league in which I play must be within 100 miles of my official residence at the end of the previous academic year or the institution which I last attended as a regular student. If a league is not available within 100 miles, I may participate in a league closest to my official residence or the institution, if staying for the summer. 7. I CANNOT receive payments for play or expenses of any kind. 8. I can compete in only “intraleague” post-season playoff or tournament competition which MUST be complete by August 31 or Weber State’s first day of classes, whichever occurs earlier. 9. I CANNOT compete in an all-star game of any kind. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the student-athlete losing all remaining eligibility.
