MILESTONE VICTORY: Last night’s victory marked the club’s 200 win since the organization hired General Manager Cameron Hope and Head Coach Dave Lowry in the summer of 2012. Since the duo arrived to Vancouver Island, the Royals have earned a mark of 200-114-13-12. In the franchise’s previous six seasons (Chilliwack 20062011 & Victoria 2011-12), the club held a record of 161-226-20-25. TAKING ON THE GIANTS: Coming into tonight’s game versus the Giants, the Victoria Royals have not lost in regulation against Vancouver since December 16, 2015. In those 10 games, Victoria has outscored the Giants 5016, including a mark of 11/37=29.7% on the powerplay. The Royals are currently on a 14-game powerplay goal streak against the Giants dating back to December 11, 2015. During that streak, Victoria’s man-advantage has gone 16/52=30.8%. HOMESTAND: Last night’s contest marked the beginning of the club’s second longest homestand of the season, th which is seven consecutive contests that will stretch until February 11 . During that span, Victoria will host the Vancouver Giants, Calgary Hitmen, Seattle Thunderbirds and Kamloops Blazers. The Royals’ longest homestand of the campaign was eight straight games in November, where the team posted a record of 6-2-0-0 and outscored their opponents 29-22. WHL VETS: Two Royals’ skaters will reach milestones in tonight’s game versus the Giants. Ryan Gagnon and Tyler th th Soy will be playing in their 300 and 250 career WHL regular season games respectively. Gagnon, the Quesnel, BC native, has recorded 64 points (9g-55a) through 299 WHL contests. Soy, the Cloverdale, BC product, has registered 224 points (110g-114a) in 249 career games. Gagnon was selected by the Royals in the third round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft and Soy went in the first round, eighth overall, in the 2012 Draft Class. AMONG THE BEST: Victoria Royals’ goaltender Griffen Outhouse is among the top of several Canadian Hockey League (CHL) netminder categories. Outhouse leads the CHL for the most games played this season at 47 and is second in the league for most wins with 28. Outhouse also sits second in the CHL for the most saves and shots against this season with 1348 and 1465 respectively, only behind the Niagara Ice Dogs’ Stephen Dhillon (1454 & 1585). PROPSECT ALERT: Royals’ prospect and goaltender Brock Gould, who plays for the Colorado Thunderbirds Under-15 team in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL U15), was recently promoted to the Colorado Thunderbirds Under-16 squad. Since his call up, Gould has played two games for the Under-16 team and has posted a 2.50 goals against average (GAA). The Colorado Springs, CO native started the year with the Under-15 squad and recorded a 0.933 save percentage to coincide with a 1.66 GAA in nine games played. He was drafted by th Victoria 170 overall in the eighth round of the 2016 WHL Bantam draft.
