Pastor’s Pen We are so proud of all of our Bible Drillers. They attended the Bible Drill State Competition at FBC Arlington this past weekend. Luke Compton scored a State Winner Perfect Rating, Kate Elizabeth Couch scored a rating of Superior, Lindi Scobee scored a rating of Excellent, Matthew Compton and Liana Burgess scored a rating of Good. Others on the team include: Andrew Compton, John Mark Compton, Nina Blair, and McCray Swofford. We are so proud of our members of the FBC Sanger Bible Drill team! They all put in a lot of hard work this year storing God’s word in their hearts! We will recognize these Drillers and present them with their certificates on Sunday, May 22, in the 10:50 service.

TAKE A SWING A golfer stood over his tee shot for what seemed an eternity. Looking up, looking down, measuring the distance, figuring the wind speed and direction; it was driving his partner nuts. Finally, his exasperated partner said, "What's taking so long? Hit the blasted ball!" The guy answered, "My wife is up there watching me from the clubhouse. I want to make this a perfect shot." "Forget it, man." the partner responded, "You'll never hit her from here!" That’s awful! Part of growing up is learning the difference between opportunity and temptation. Just because we have the opportunity, does not mean we need to do it. There are many good things that are opportunities, but they’re not the best things for us, so they become temptations. In “The Tyranny of the Urgent,” Charles Hummel wrote: “Several years ago an experienced cotton mill manager said to me, "Your greatest danger is letting the urgent things crowd out the important." He didn't realize how hard his maxim hit. It often returns to

haunt and rebuke me by raising the critical problem of priorities.” Matthew 28:19-20: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” This is the Word of God, our Great Commission, our purpose statement, God’s Will. We must value it and when we do, we will obey. We can try to ignore it, good luck with that. We can flat out disobey it, your choice. But if we want to walk in fellowship with the Lord, we have to value it enough to obey. How do we make disciples of all the nations? We look for opportunities to share Christ with those in our community. We look for opportunities to share Christ in the world. Our Missions Committee is busy working on opportunities for you to be involved in fulfilling the Great Commission: we have a group going to Matamoros, Mexico this week to participate in a Medical mission and some will be helping with a construction project. Two members of the committee returned from Honduras, where we were invited to walk with a missionary for three days. Their purpose was to see if the Lord might be leading us to partner with one of the churches where He ministers. Our Hispanic mission has made an offer on a piece of land that they hope to buy and build a church. I hope to partner with them when they begin building and help them begin a new future of reaching the Hispanic community. Some of you will need to go to Honduras, if the church votes for partnership there. Some of you need to go to Matamoros to help share the Gospel there. And some of you need to find your place in helping the Hispanic church here in Sanger. Some are called to go, some are called to give, but all are called to pray! So, do your part! Take a swing, but make sure the target is obedience.

In the same way, the Spirit helps

us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

And

he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God . ~Romans 8:26-27
