FOR THE 2014 GLOBAL DAY OF JEWISH LEARNING San Antonio will join over 400 communities worldwide, joining together to celebrate community based learning.  This year’s theme is  Heroes, Villains, Saints and Fools: The People in the Book  ALL SESSIONS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE!!!

Featuring our guest presenter, internationally renowned speaker and New York Times bestselling author, Paul Benjamin AND some of San Antonio’s own outstanding Rabbis and Educators!!! SESSION 1:

(at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus of the San Antonio Jewish Community)

9am - 9:30am Bagels & Schmoozing 9:30am - 11am Adult Education Sessions taking place at: Temple Beth-El: • “Raising a Mini Mensch,” presented by Aliza Cantu; • “Jewish themes in comics,” presented by Paul Benjamin Congregation Agudas Achim: “You Have It In You: How to Become Your Own Jewish Superhero,” presented by Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham Congregation Rodfei Sholom: “Sarah: Hero of Consistency and Self Sacrifice,” presented by Rabbi Avraham Scheinberg Chabad of San Antonio:   “What’s a Nice Jewish Boy Doing with a Job Like That?” presented by Rabbi David Komerofsky

2pm – 3pm Keynote session from our guest presenter Paul Benjamin, “The History of Jews in Comics” Childcare will be provided for ages 4 and older, RSVPs required to Amy Reagin at (302-6960 or at [email protected]) 3:15pm – 4:15pm Option A: Super Family-Friendly Workshop program hosted by PJ Library and The Kehila Project - leisurely engage with art stations designed to inspire your family to think about its own heroic acts; meet a “real” superhero; lastly, listen to a story that will inspire us all to find our inner heros. Come in costume, if you’d like! Capes optional. Option B: Adult Education Sessions: • “Jewish Women as Agents of Change,” presented by Ronit Sherwin • “King David - Poet, Scholar, Warrior,” presented by Rabbi Chaim Block • “Tales of the TANACH—Tabloid or Truth? The Dirt and the Divine, all on the Same Page!,” presented by Rabbi Mara Nathan 4:15pm Closing Ceremony and Nosh
