Today’s Message When Abraham Lincoln was a young man, he took a sack of grain to be ground at the mill. The owner had the reputation for being the slowest and laziest miller in Illinois. After watching him for a while, Lincoln said, “You know, I think I could eat grain as fast as you are grinding it.” “But how long could you keep it up?” the miller replied ungraciously. “Until I starve to death.” Some people are just not motivated to serve others, but thank God for those who serve! Thank God for all of the servants of First Baptist Church. Psalm 147:7: “Sing to the Lord with Thanksgiving; Sing praises on the harp to our God.”
We have so much to be thankful for on a personal level: Our salvation, our families, God’s provision, good health, our jobs, our homes, and the list goes on. Sometimes, we don’t appreciate some of these things until we don’t have them. So, be thankful! We also have so much for which to be thankful as a church. God has blessed our GOD’S TABLE ministry. Monday, 11/17, we doubled the previous week’s attendance. However, what makes it exciting is how many members have helped already. Yes, we thank Him for the opportunity to serve because opportunities to serve are
gifts from God. You may not be a great singer, but we can sing praises to the Lord with Thanksgiving in our service to others. Have you checked out “The Serving Wall?” Come and look at the opportunities to serve and maybe you will find that ministry God has chosen for you. Happy Thanksgiving from your grateful church staff!
