Finishing this block, the eleventh in a twelve block series, takes you one step closer to finishing a beautiful sampler quilt that highlights all of the awesome features of the Horizon Memory Craft 9400 QCP. Techniques covered are piecing, appliqué and elongation of stitches.
Fabric Preparation: 1. Cut 7 ¼” square cobalt and 7 ¼” square lagoon in half on the diagonal.
• 6” x 6” Gold • 6” x 6” paper back fusible web • Terial Magic liquid stabilizer • Neutral color cotton thread • Yellow embroidery thread

6. Sew the Lava/Luna units together.

5. Attach ¼ Seam foot O. 6. Unlock machine. Pinwheel Block 1. With right sides together, sew one small lava triangle to one small luna triangle on short side. Make 2 of these units.
7. Sew the top cobalt unit to the bottom Lava/ Luna unit to make the block.
2. Stitch one small cobalt triangle to another small cobalt triangle on short side. Make 2 of these units. Sun Appliqué 1. Saturate pieced square with Terial Magic. Hang to dry approximately 15-20 minutes, then press dry. 3. Lava/Luna units: lay large lagoon triangle on this unit and sew in place. Make 2 of these units.
2. Following manufacturer’s instructions, apply fusible web to 6” x 6” gold square. 3. Cut a half circle approximately 5” in diameter from gold square. 4. Fuse half circle to cobalt section of block. 5. Lock machine and attach ZigZag needle plate. 6. Attach Satin Stitch foot F.
4. Cobalt units: lay large cobalt triangle on cobalt unit and sew in place. Make 2 of these units.
7. Insert Blue Tip needle and thread with yellow embroidery thread. 8. Touch Sewing Applications tab fig16> Appliqué > Blanket stitch R. 9. Touch cornering button button.

10. Appliqué sun in place. 5. Sew 2 cobalt units together.

11. When stopping at a corner the foot will automatically lift. Turn the fabric, touch Begin at corner button and then continue sewing.

4. Sew 2 pattern stitches beginning on the left side of the sun.

5. When the second stitch pattern begins, touch Auto Lock so machine will stop when second stitch pattern is complete.
Note: Decorative stitches automatically sew a locking stitch at the start. Press the Auto Lock button to complete stitch pattern and lock off. 1. Touch Decorative tab > Satin
> stitch #5.
2. Touch up arrow to open adjust window.
6. Set Elongation at 2 and sew 2 stitch patterns next to previous stitch. 7. Touch Auto Lock when second pattern begins stitching. 8. Set Elongation at 3 and sew 2 pattern stitches beside previous stitch. 9. Continue stitching lines using this elongation sequence. 10. Elongation 2, 4, 3, 2, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 2, 3.
3. Touch + button on Elongation to set at 3.
11. Wash square to remove stabilizer. 12. Press and square block to 12 ½”.
