Scanteak’s group name, Hawaii Furnishing, was named after its founder’s favourite TV show – Hawaii Five-O.
Scanteak’s current Elements collection is made from reclaimed wood such as from old lamp posts, ship decks and railway tracks. In Taiwan, Scanteak achieved the highest top-of-mind and spontaneous brand recall, well ahead of major international competitors.
Since 2004, Scanteak has collaborated with Nanyang Polytechnic Singapore to organise an industrial design competition (A Tribute to My Home) created to promote family values and young talents. Students are tasked to design furniture sets that foster family ties, and a prototype of the winning design is built by Scanteak for winners for their homes. Scanteak is the first furniture retail chain store in Southeast Asia to enter the Japanese furniture retail market.
