Designed by Heidi Pridemore Please read all instructions before starting. Measurement on borders are approximate. Measure your quilt top before cutting. Use a 1/4” seam allowance unless otherwise noted.

Cutting Instructions:

Elephants – Lilac (A) • Cut fifteen 2 ½” x width of fabric (WOF) strips. Sub-cut the strips into (240) 2 ½” squares. Flowers & Vines – Navy (B) • Cut eight 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (120) 2 ½” squares; • Cut four 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixty 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips. Bouquets – Light Blue (C) • Cut four 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixty 4 ½” squares. Flower Buds – Navy (D) • Cut eight 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (120) 2 ½” squares. Flowers & Vine – Light Blue (E) • Cut seven 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixty 4 ½” squares. Bouquet – Lilac (F) • Cut fifteen 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (240) 2 ½” squares. Elephants – Navy (G) • Cut eight 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (120) 2 ½” squares; • Cut four 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixty 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips. Chambray – Cream (H) • Cut four 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into thirty 4 ½” squares; • Cut fifteen 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (240) 2 ½” squares; • Cut eight 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (120) 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips. Bouquet – Navy (I) • Cut seven 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding. Backing (Your Choice) • Cut two 68” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 68” x 80” to make the back.

Block Assembly Instructions:

1.

Place one 2 ½” Fabric D square on the top left corner of one 4 ½” Fabric C square, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼" away from the sewn seam.

Follow Figure 3 for the seam direction to add a 2 ½” Fabric H square to the upper right and lower left corners and a 2 ½” Fabric A square to the lower right corner of the 4 ½” Fabric C square to make one C block (Fig. 4).

Repeat Steps 1-2 to make sixty C blocks total.

Repeat Steps 1-2 using sixty 4 ½” Fabric E squares, sixty 2 ½” Fabric D squares, (120) 2 ½” Fabric H squares and sixty 2 ½” Fabric F squares to make sixty E blocks (Fig. 5).

Repeat Steps 1-2 using fifteen 4 ½” Fabric H squares and sixty 2 ½” Fabric A squares to make fifteen AH blocks (Fig. 6).

Repeat Steps 1-2 using fifteen 4 ½” Fabric H squares and sixty 2 ½” Fabric F squares to make fifteen FH blocks (Fig. 7).

Place one 2 ½” Fabric B square on the left side of one 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric H strip, right sides together (Fig. 8). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 8). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 9). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance. Place another 2 ½” Fabric B square on the right side of the 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric H strip, right sides together (Fig. 10). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 10). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 11). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make one BHB unit.

Repeat Steps 7-8 using sixty 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric B strips and (120) 2 ½” Fabric A squares to make sixty ABA units (fig. 12).

Repeat Steps 7-8 using sixty 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric H strips and (120) 2 ½” Fabric G squares to make sixty GHG units (Fig. 14).

Sew one FGF unit to the top of one GHG unit to make one GH block (Fig. 16). Repeat to make sixty GH blocks total.

Sew (1) ABA unit to the top of one BHB unit to make (1) BH block (Fig. 13). Repeat to make sixty BH blocks total.

Sew one BH block to each side of one AH block. Sew (1) C block to each side of one BH block. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the AH block to make one Block One (Fig. 17). Pay attention to the orientation of the blocks. Repeat to make fifteen Block Ones total.

Sew one GH block to each side of one FH block. Sew (1) E block to each side of one GH block. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the FH block to make one Block Two (Fig. 18). Pay attention to the orientation of the blocks. Repeat to make fifteen Block Twos total. Quilt Top Assembly Instructions: Refer to Quilt Layout while assembling.

Sew three Block Ones and two Block Twos together, alternating them, to make Row One. Repeat to make Rows Three and Five. Sew three Block Twos and two Block Ones together, alternating them, to make Row Two. Repeat to make Rows Four and Six. Sew the six rows together, in numerical order, to make the quilt top. Layer and quilt as desired. Sew the seven 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.
