Recent Results

Josie Pearson, Jr., Missouri State (Evergreen, Colorado)

200 IM – 1st place, 2:03.89; 200 Fly – 1st place, 2:04.82; 400 Medley Relay – 1st place, 3:48.99 Pearson had an excellent home meet against Southern Illinois, bringing in two individual victories and one relay win. She brought in her first victory in the 200 IM, where she dominated the event with a time of 2:03.89 – nearly seven seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Her time in the 200 IM was just .28 seconds away from breaking the Hammons Student Center pool record. Claiming the 200 fly by nearly two seconds, Pearson finished the event in 2:04.82. Along with her individual wins, she aided the Bears to a first-place finish in the 400 medley relay. Serving as the third leg of the relay, the Bears finished the race seven seconds faster than the second-place relay.

MVC Diver of the Week Beibei Ji, So., Southern Illinois (Taiyuan, China)

Beibei Ji recorded a personal best score of 286.80 to record her second-straight victory in the three-meter dive. She finished nearly 12 points ahead of second place Baobao Ji in the dive. In the one-meter, Beibei posted a score of 270.90 to finish in second and help secure a one-two finish for Southern against the event against Missouri State.

Other Top Performances

Karley Licking, Sr., Illinois State Licking won two individual events and was a member of a winning relay team in Illinois State’s double dual victory over Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis Saturday in Romeoville, Illinois. She touched the wall first in both the 100-yard backstroke (59.45) and 200-yard freestyle (1:58.64) in Saturday’s meet. She was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:48.87) that set a Lewis Pool record. Kendall Hansen, So., Indiana State Kendall Hansen has been consistent for the Sycamores all season. During the meet with UIC this weekend she placed first in two events. Hansen placed first in the 100 backstroke with a 59.32 and the 200 backstroke with a 2:06.08. Bryn Handley, Sr., Southern Illinois Bryn Handley won both of her individual events on Saturday in the Salukis meet on the road against defending MVC Champions, Missouri State. Handley won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:05.95 to set a new pool record at the Hammons Student Center Pool. The previous record was 10:07.95. Handley also took home first in the women’s 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.51 to finish nearly three seconds ahead of second place. Handley also helped her 400-yard freestyle team to a second place finish with a time of 3:33.53.

Amanda Jenny, Sr., Valparaiso Amanda Jenny won two individual events on Saturday against Eastern Illinois in the 100-free (55.92) and 200-free (2:01.92). She was also the anchor on the winning 200-free relay (1:43.02).
