Lambda Theta Phi and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. collect cans for Second Harvest Food Bank.

On Thursday, November 4, 2010, members of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and radio host Otis from the "O Show" on Kiss 95.1 FM slept overnight in a cardboard box structure they built. The fraternity and Kiss 95.1 joined forces to raise money for Second Harvest Food Bank and awareness about

hunger and homelessness in Charlotte.

Members of Pi Kappa Alpha carry boxes through Uptown Charlotte to create their shelter.

Kappa Sigma also joined in the fight to raise awareness about homelessness in North Carolina through their “Race to Raleigh” event. On October 23, 2010, fraternity members set up stationary bikes with the symbolic destination of the NC General Assembly Legislative Building in Raleigh to promote legislation for the homeless citizens of North Carolina. Delta Zeta’s Most Eligible Bachelor contest was also a huge success. On October 23rd, the women raised over $15,000 for their philanthropy, which supports the Speech and Hearing impaired. The Zeta Delta chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. also had a very successful philanthropic event: iKare Haiti Initiative. The chapter and the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation worked together to continue raising

funds in support of earthquake victims in Haiti. At the event on October 27th, 2010, chapter members and attendees helped raise $1,088 for the cause. The entire Greek community also came together this fall for a Boys and Girls Club benefit. All five of our councils helped raise money and worked together to renovate the Boys and Girls Club building in Charlotte. The Boys and Girls Club provides lifechanging programs and character development for local children, and the Fraternity and Sorority Community is committed to bettering the experience for all who enter. Emily Tanner, Lauren Herman, and Heather Simpson paint the walls at the Boys and Girls Club of Charlotte.
