TAKE AWAY HOMEWORK Take away homework enables teachers to set differentiated tasks for students. A take away homework assignment has three different categories, or “trays”, and within each of these are one or more different tasks. This is a highly flexible way of setting homework, and it can be used in a variety of ways. Here’s a brief introduction to creating a new Take Away Homework task:
To create a new take away homework task, log in to Show My Homework and select Set Take Away Homework from the menu in your toolbar.
To begin, you’ll be asked to fill in some general information about the task. Enter a title for the homework, and then provide instructions for your students as necessary.
Select a subject for the assignment, and select the class group it will be assigned to.
You are then asked for two dates. The Issue date determines when the task will first appear in the school calendar, and in student and parent personal calendars, and the Due date is the last day the task is open for submissions.
At this time, all take away homework tasks are treated as inclass submissions.
You can also upload a background photo to add some flavour to the assignment.
When you’re finished with this section, click “Continue”.

TAKE AWAY HOMEWORK Once you have set up the main homework assignment, it’s time to move on to adding tasks.
By default, the three trays are titled Easy, Medium, and Hard, but these can be renamed as you see fit.
The next step is to set tasks for each of the different categories within the homework.
You can attach additional resources like PDFs or PowerPoint presentations to each individual task.
If you’re creating several tasks, you might notice that they start to take up a lot of room on your screen; you can use the “Hide task” button to collapse them and free up space.
Repeat this process for each of the three trays until you have added all of the necessary tasks and resources to the assignment.
When you’re finished adding tasks, click on the Publish your #TakeAway homework button to publish the homework to the calendar. Take away homework will appear in dark blue on the homework calendar to differentiate it from regular homework tasks.
When your students view the assignment, they will see the tasks laid out in a simple grid that makes it easy for them to know which tasks they need to complete!
