Harm Reduction
Harm Reduction • Strategies to reduce preventable consequences associated with substance use • Meeting people where they’re at to support realistic positive change • Recognizes overlapping mental illness, physical health, sociodemographics • Not one-size-fits-all • Evidence-based; effective

Current AZ Harm Reduction Programs
SPW’s Naloxone & Overdose Prevention Program • 64,834 doses naloxone distributed (3,096 to LE) • 2,862 reversals • Sep 2016 – Jan 2018 • "After the training I decided to stop by her house and tell her what I had learned and give her one of the Naloxone kits I grabbed at the training. I really didn't feel like stopping but something told me I should. The very next morning she called me and told me that her son overdosed in their home and she had to use the Naloxone I gave her. It saved her son's life. If I wouldn't have gone to that training, if I wouldn't have stopped by her house on my way home, her son wouldn't be here and he wouldn't have another chance to get help. I feel so grateful that these services are being offered in Arizona.” -Joan C., Casa Grande
